To add a touch of more realism after placing the bases then glue sand around the bases to hide the transition. Also to be honest this color scheme could be so much more realistic looking with just a few changes for colors. I did this type of color scheme and then realized by experimenting with color combinations, there are ways to make the stone so much more realistic looking with just a touch more effort. Black Magic Crafting has several tutorials on this and he really knows his craft for realism. Best on KZbin in my opinion and I don't have any connection to him. Also adding weights or even small magnets allows the walls to be so much more stable.

I like the brick by brick approach. I prefer a shorter wall so I can make these walls only 2 stones high rather than three if I choose. Excellent.

Yeah I like the smaller ones for D&D but I also use these for Frostgrave so the height is actually needed. Thanks for watching Liam!

I love that you use the same table I use to spray on lol. Do enjoy the walls though, I just made my first set using tons of Styrofoam from work. I weighted mine with small screws and bolts I had around the house to give them weight when I throw em on the table! But I love the dungeon look to yours!!!

You could use a bucket with a lid, with some sharp stones in it? Toss in the foam blocks and shake, rattle and hum until the desired effect is achieved 😊 Way less time consuming and way more fun. Rock on!

So Q for ya! Someone just pointed me to your vids. Super excited to make some UDT set ups and walls using this foam! Oh my Q! Is there any way you can think of to magnetize the walls??
@HouseDM Жыл бұрын
Definitely. Those super tiny super magnets get used on a bunch of other crafting channels. Seems like they work well but that would also really complicate the build. I just used those laminate tiles from your big box hardware stores. They help a ton with adding weight so they don’t slide around. Hope that helps and if you try the magnet route, best of luck!

Not sure if you have a large craft store in your area like hobby lobby. If you do you might want to check out the picture framing section. They have 1/2” black foam core boards that are 20”X30” for about $6 a piece.

Really nice build. They look super useful. I'm digging the arch, as well. You ain't kidding about EVA taking awhile to craft, but it's basically indestructible, sooooo... it's a trade-off, but pays off, long-term. I use EVA, for dungeon tiles, rock scatter, pillars, etc. 😜 I also use floor samples for bases. If you want an "organic" or "natural" look, the ones you used cut pretty easily, with scissors. I think you may have done this, around the arch? You could, instead, place small screws into the bottom of the walls, to weight and stabilize them. Yeeeeah... I have numerous jugs of EVA rubble, for... ??? 😞 I have the opposite problem, here in GA and FL, where we can't get 2" XPS, 'coz "It's too warm, here." Final thought: Use those skills, you got from crafting raised planter beds, to build yourself a crafting/storage shed. 😀
@HouseDM4 жыл бұрын
Hey Cross thanks for commenting! That arch I actually made from scrap xps foam. Ill definitely give scissors a shot with the eva. Didnt even stop to think about trying that. Screws are a great idea but I didnt have any small enough laying around. Definitely will keep that in mind for future projects. And yeah up here in the Pacific Northwest its pretty easy to get the 2" xps or 1inch project boards but not the half inch. We cant even order it online and have it shipped. Crazy right? Ill be building a better storage setup sometime next year. Cheers!
@CampaignTerrain4 жыл бұрын
@@HouseDM I was meaning you could use scissors on the vinyl tile, but they work great on EVA, too. You can see me cutting EVA rock scatter, with scissors, in Episode 0004, on my chan (shameless plug 😜). As for 2" XPS, we can order it, here, but only as full 4'x8' sheets, and a minimum of, IIRC, a dozen. 😲 Yeah... no

Is this foam sold in the big box stores: seems way easier and less messy than the blue/pink foam
@HouseDM3 жыл бұрын
I think you can find this at big box stores. Look for the kind of foam they lay down in that puzzle-like format for kids rooms or the kind to soften your garage floor. Its called EVA foam and it comes in many types.

Hey Charlie! I made it from the $5.99 foam boards of the pink xps insulation foam you can get at your local hardware store. That board I made by watching the channel "Dungeon Craft".
