My favorite rain-scene is from Blade Runner 2049 when joi is "experiencing" the rain with the colorful neon lights in the background and the haze blurring the window lights. Just an incredible mood in there.

My favorite rain scene is from Saving Private Ryan...the way they mix the sounds of rain whit the sound of bombs or shoots.

My favorite rain scene is from The Batman (2022) where Batman Walking to Penguin's Car after the crash scene. I would use a 400Bi light mat over the flipped car to light it evenly with the sodium vapor street light effect. Then use a 1200Bi and shine it through a large scrim to backlit Batman walking towards the fliped-over car. This should be able to backlit the rain particles as well as create a suspense feel.

I have to scene in mind you cant bet the first one where Gene kelly was singing in the rain at night with the perfect amount of light the spot lit him. The movie Rush, where they was racing in the rain and you get a shot from the front of the race car where you are looking down it. And the light bouncing off it truly showing the they are driving in a down pour.

My all-time favourite rain scene is in The Shawshank Redemption! After crawling through “five hundred yards of shit-smelling foulness”, one of our heroes emerges into a glorious, hammering rain that seems to sum up the spirit of freedom! Oh yeaaah ; )

The final fight scene in The Matrix Revolutions (Neo Vs. Agent Smith in the rain). Pretty new for the time, kinda Dragon Ball esque... To re-create you would need a huge soft overhead rig and also some huge HMI's on condors to backlight everything.

The rain scene in Blade Runner 1982. Where Roy (Rutger Hauer) speaks his final words to Deckard (Harrison Ford) before dying on the roof top. Back lit the rain with Godox Knowled MG1200Bi and 4 F600Bi light at 20% output and through double diffuse for side fill when on the wide but for close up use 1 F400Bi. Another MG1200Bi with the 19 degree spotlight mount for the light gag that is panning across the scene.
