I am a complete newbie to VBA, using your online videos I have managed to make a few great designs for use in my organization and information sharing. I came across this video trying to just display a table that already lives in another sheet of my document. I am wanting to have that table pop up when a specific cell with a specific name is selected. Is this far more simple than what you have created here? The tables are updated on a regular basis so creating the picture the way you would work I believe but feel there would be a more simple approach to displaying an already named table. Am I far off base here? Again total newbie so your videos and advice have been amazing tools for me. Thank you.
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers Жыл бұрын
HI and thanks, yes that is correct. To Display a table in a pop-up, it can be done relatively simply. Use the Camra tool to 'take a picture' of that table. Then copy and past that picture into your sheet and give it a name. Use VBA to hight that picture, however when a user selects a specific row, that picture is displayed. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Great content. Quick question about the pop up. In this video the pop value is getting picked from same row. But what if I want that value to be picked from different sheet? How can it do a lookup first to find the same ID and pull out the data?
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 10 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for your comment. If in the selected row, you have the Unique ID of the item in the other sheet, you can use the FInd command along with the named range to find the row on the other sheet such as ItemRow = ItemsDB.range("Item_ID").Find(ItemID,,xlvalues,xlwhole).Row This would return the row of the found Item ID on any sheet. I hope this helps. Hi. Super Video. Thank you. Is it possible to change dinamically the background color of a cell when a new comment has been added?
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 4 жыл бұрын
Hi I was not sure, but after seeing your comment I did some research and found a way to do this. You could add a UDF (User Defined Function) in a module in VBA such as: Function getComment(incell) As String ' aceepts a cell as input and returns its comments (if any) back as a string On Error Resume Next getComment = incell.Comment.Text End Function Then you can add a new conditional formatting formula as follows: =getComment(A1)"" And the Applies To As =$A$1:$Z$99 Then the format of the Conditional formatting to color the background Then, after a comment is added and a sheet is calculated, the background will be colored Make sure that in your formula begins with the same cell (relative - without the $) and the Applies to also begins with the same cell. This will work just fine. Thanks for the good question.

First of all, that was amazing, great video! I am a total noob with vba, so what I am trying to do is a dynamic chart to pop up automatically when clicking on a specific cells on my current sheet (sheet1). For example, if I click on a cell B2, I want a dynamic chart to pop up from a chart I have created on sheet2, If I click on C2, it will pop up my chart on sheet3 and so on. Can this be done? Do you have a way of doing this? Thank you in advance for any answer. 🙂
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Miguel, thanks so much for your comment. I do not believe I have a specific training on that however you can create a chart and then use the camera tool over that chart to create and a name a picture. You can then show/hide this specific picture anywhere you want on any sheet. This picture will be a 'live picture' so that when the data (or chart) changes so does the picture. you can also create and then show/hide a chart in any specific location as well. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Nice video! On the unformatted comment you didn't add visible, but on the formatted one you added two visible .shape.fill.visible and .visible = true On the formatted one when you click on a cell in col G the formatted comment appears, but the only way to get rid of it is click on another cell in the worksheet selection range. Even I f you click on a cell outside of the range the comment is stil there. So was wondering do you need both of the visible options and what's the difference between the two
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 3 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks Dan. I am glad you enjoyed the video. If you want the comment to be hidden on any selection change, you can add this code to the selection change even, something like If Shapes("ShapeName").visible = True then Shapes("ShapeName").visible = msoFalse You would place this before the other selection change so that the comment only appears when the correct cell is selected. I hope this helps. Not sure what you mean with shape name as its a comment that appears. I actually added a line in worksheet selection change under the line else: Shapes("AddPicBtn").visible = msofalse, then added Range("G4:G200").clearcomments

How about Pop-Up preview of an invoice that's in PDF format. Is it possible?
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 4 жыл бұрын
Hi you can take any picture and preview it. (nice idea) however it may take a lot of disk space. After you create an Invoice, you can have Excel save it as a picture (Just as I did in this training) and make sure you save it as a dynamic name such as "Inv-123" , then when you select a row on an invoice simply call up that picture. and place it into the comment just as I did in the video. (pdf format would not help as we need to pull up pictures, not pdf's) Thanks for the nice idea. I may consider it when adding the Invoice feature to my Accounting Application that will be created in the Mentorship Program launching soon.

Hi Osama, just change the locked cell to unlocked in properties. This way it will not cause a bug when protected. You must do this for all cells in which VBA will change. Is there an issue or trick to get this working on a MacOS machine?
@ExcelForFreelancers
@ExcelForFreelancers 3 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks very much. Mac's require different code because of their folder structure and also Macs are limited in what they can do since ActiveX components are not used on a Mac. There is more information on that here: www.macexcel.com/ I recommend you use Parallels which mimics the PC environment on a Mac so that you can use all of the features. www.excelforfreelancers.com/go/rwm-parallels-YTDesc I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Yes certainly, you can create a dynamic named range based on an advanced filter results, for a single student. You can then create a charge based on the results of this advanced filter, create a picture from it, then that picture can be displayed on the selection of a name. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
