How do I change the perspective from 3d to 2d? I have the problem that I only get a 3d perspective in illustrator and I don't know how to change it to 2d. The grid is a 3d grid that I get. thanks

I got stuck. I've never used this program before and I've never really done a floor plan before. I got stuck when making the grid because I am in the USA and we use the Imperial System, and I really don't want to attempt to convert all my measurements to Metric. So any thoughts on how I could make each box equal a foot? My room is approx. 2 ft x 41 ft. so I'm guessing I should try to have a grid that is maybe 70+ boxes wide and 50 boxes tall? Not sure how to do that either. I am not an architect, nor awesome at math. I am sorry for my ignorance, but I'm very to have come across a helpful video. Thank you.

Learn architectural scaling, i.e. 1/4"=1' or draw in modern Ai in full size on a large artboard or canvas size. Than scale down all drawing by factor 48 to fit it on letter size page to be printed.

Thanks for the positive comment. The specifications I refer to are those that have been developed by VCAA who implements school curriculum here in Victoria, Australia. I suspect that there will be similar specifications/rules in the USA, but it may not be exactly the same.

Hi there. Thanks for the comment. I have updated the link so you can access the Technical Drawings Specifications Handbook (by VCAA). I'm not aware of any other free assets that you can use for floor -plans, but you are welcome to download the one i've provided.

Hi there. Go to 'Preferences'. In the 'Units' section, you can change the 'General' settings to whatever you like, including inches and feet.

I'm really sorry about this. The original document contained illustrations from unknown authors/creators. I didn't feel that it was right to publish them, so I replaced them with the original illustrations that I have created (which you are free to use however you please). I hope to add more furniture, etc. in the near future.

To insert words/type into Adobe Illustrator, you simply select the "T" for type tool in the tool bar on the left of screen and click on the canvas to begin typing. I hope that answers your question.
