Thanks for getting back. I once attended a flying school in Honolulu Hawaii. Got my private, transfered wit the Navy to Guam and flew 500 hours taking anyone who would rent the 172 to all parts of the trust territories. I was born in Waco so my wife and I returned to Dallas where my family lived. You must be a very unique person to have command and depth of computer science and probably several other fields if you fly. Moved to Oregon in 1979 with Xerox. Been here ever since and retired from state government in Network services. Retired and want to learn Delphi. I started with vb6 but 5hats history now. So you are a pilot too, that’s great to know. I Studied at Qualiflight Flying School many years ago at Meacham airfield. I got my PPL and my Commercial Pilot Licence with Multi-Engine and Instrument rating at Qualiflight Flying School those days. I use to leave in an apartment at Denton High Way. I worked as a commercial Pilot with airlines for many years and also as a flight instructor. But in my part of the world, the aviation profession lacks stability. I then went back to bases, by going to University in London, where I got my BSc in Computer science, Master degree in Computer Games Technology and a Postgraduate degree in Education. And just like you, I will retire very soon, I am in my 60s. I use to fly to Waco regional airport which is a 15-20 minute drive from downtown.I am a grandad and live in London for over 40 years. @@DJOamen I knew it, you would be one of those guys that has already had a super charged life based on your inert ability to retain knowledge and with that able to simplify it for students. Captain Oamen, my instructor in 1970 was an air force captain who worked in the Kunia Tunnel, sort of like Cheyenne mountain but on Oahu and he led the ADIZ staff for the Western. U.S. starting in the Hawaiian Islands. I learned to fly in the days of deadreconing and VOR's. You must be an amazing man to know. There are not a lot of you out there. Hello Sir John. I hope you’re keeping well, reading through your comment made my day. You made me re-affirm what it means to work hard and be resourceful for others. Believe me, that was a very encouraging comment and is so nice and kind of you. You know, my first son’s middle name is John. My uncle is John, and my cousin’s name is John as well. May be is because we are catholic, the names are mostly Paul, John, Joshua, Mary… And just for you to know my name is Paul John Oamen. I learn to fly using ADF, VOR, ILS, glide slope, and many more. I went flying two days ago and we still use ADF and VOR at the local airfield, as you know you have to keep your license current. Is very good to be a grandfather, I feel like I have achieved one of the human tasks. Say hello to your grandchildren, say safe, and look after yourself.
