There are many tutorials out there who can explain it step by step but it will be 1 hour or more for sure. I he clicked the horizontal box and moved it into place resizing it in the clipped out part. took me a second to figure out too. you can see the extra dotted lines after the cut

Tried a bit with the newest version of Unity and also newest tutorials - an hour later I rage-deleted it. This tutorial is 4 years old and it still translates perfectly to the newest version of UE4! On top of that you explained your steps so well that its no problem at all adding a "back" button on the options screen which closes the Options screen and transfers you safely back to the Main Menu screen :)

I just tried this tutorial using the first person mode. It loads the second map but it's stuck. I can't move.

That happens because you lose the focus, if you delete in blueprint level of main menu the set input mode box should solve the problem, that works for me.

@JAMIE J at 6:25 use Set input mode UIOnly, that box makes you lose the focus when you start gameplay, to solve this problem you need to add a box blueprint "Set input mode game" in any part when you load the level of gameplay, for example in the event start of blueprint level

Brilliant video! Just wondering if anyone knows how to stop the button labels acting like regular text when they are clicked. The button behind the text works fine when clicked on, just not the text for the button label (it doesn't open anything, just highlights it or shows the cursor). I figured I could just change the z-order of the button to be on top of the button text, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that. Any ideas?

holy crap you're fast, i know people are complaining about it and yeah i kinda am as well but hey you didnt bullshit anything and im thankful for that. one thing i would like to have seen was more of an explanation as to why im doing these things. its easy to do all this when you already know how to, but as a person who is literally new to unreal 4 it would be nice to get a few seconds of just understanding. like why do we have to add comments around the scripts? why do we attach these things instead of other options? if you don't explain we cant learn and i am not a quick learner. so overall a great video that really gets down to the point and does what it says it will do, but for anyone whos going to need a few seconds to follow, you might want to set the video to .5 or .25 depending on how fast you can type.

EDIT: Nvm, got in working, turns out I didn't follow the part at 9:04 I did a different menu and the only had two options, both of which start the game but instead of the menu appearing, the game just starts immediately, no menu or anything despite following the tutorial. I left out the Option and Quit buttons so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I have a problem. I did everything right, and it worked.... the first time. Then every time after that, it just instantly loaded the game when I clicked New Editor Window. I'm trying to make a 2D game mode as opposed to a 3D one and this tutorial leaves a running model of the character in the background. When I replicated it in 3D there was no issue with the character model being present. Is there a reason you can think of as to why this happened?

Hi CodeViper, great video and thank you for making it. Could you tell me how I can get the vertical box to line up on the side of the second horizontal box? When I created the vertical box in the second horizontal box, it was automatically located in the top left corner. I tried to pull it down into the horizontal box but it seems as though it is immovable :( Any suggestions are much appreciated.

This works better than any other tutorial but my hud is showing on the menu screen and I think it’s making me not be able to click on the buttons? Mouse cursor works and everything works fine it’s just that one problem

It’s a great tutorial (with the playback speed set to (0.5). It’s because he speaks so fast and does 20 things before I do one thing. Which gets really confusing and means I have to go back a phew seconds in the video a couple times in at the playback speed of 0.5 just to get what he is saying (sort of).

For "PlayButton Clicked", whenever I assign another level aside from the level I first assigned, and I play form the main menu and click "Play", the newly assigned level opens, but can't control the player or camera to a point where it is unplayable unless I assign the level that I originally assigned from the start when viewing this tutorial. Is there any additional things that need to add besides changing the name of the level that I want to play when I click Play from the main menu?

It's a good tutorial but there are alot of things you left behind. I had already a map created with a HUD and in your menu it shows the entire HUD. If i want to return from options i cant, i have to force exit. And when i copy my map and the menu opens the said copy some of the funtionality, in my case the AI's dont react.
