I like the way you explain things,in a very calm and relaxing way.Some video trainers seem in a panic ,or in a rush, or with loud quick background music…it will bring anxiety to the viewers.Glad I found your channel.Thanks.

So glad you got it- making patterns is addicting. There are so many things you can do with patterns and I use them all the time in my images to texture and give them dimension. If you read the description of this video there is a link doe a Skillshare class I just posted. Skillshare is free for the first 14 days if you haven't been on there before. It would give you enough time to watch the videos and do more with your patterns. Follow the link and check it out. Have fun!

So glad it worked for you. There are so many wonderful repeat designs hidden in these patterns. Yes it should work on lace as long as you have the pixels lined up correctly it will be great. Ask if you need any assistance.

WHAAAAA! I'm in love with this!!!! So now I MUST get photoshop. Here's the deal. I make eco-prints on fabric (actual contact prints from dye plants) so you can see that the images are very similar because as I fold fabric over leaves and bark these are the type of prints I get. Now that I know that I can digitally have these images printed on fabrics I'm like over the moon excited. Thanks for showing me how to do it!

This video was fine as far as it went, but I found myself wanting to see the finished product. What did a canvas look like using these patterns. Without that addition, it felt unfinished. But what was there was very clear. Thanks!

Hi Kathy, Excellent tutorial. I'm having a challenge saving the pattern so I can use it again easily. How do I save the pattern into a specific preset file. Guess I need a tutorial on how to save a pattern for dummies. Thanks
@KathyanneWhitekaart
@KathyanneWhitekaart 8 жыл бұрын
HI Kati, If you use Photoshop you can save your file in the pattern palette. Then it will be ready for you to fill any space you would like when selecting the pattern. If you want to save them on your computer save the complete pattern repeat so you could use it. Saving in the Photoshop pattern palette is the best place for it!! Have fun!

hi thank you for the tutorial. I am using repeat patterns for textile prints but my tutor just told me my print out was blurry.. I can't see it lol but I am wondering if you have any tips when going from pattern to print before I pay to have it made into fabric which is expensive. MANY THANKS

Hi Sheraine, make sure your original image has enough pixels to enlarge.When you are working in photoshop enlarge your image on the screen until it is 100% to see if the image is blurry. I think I show that in the video. If it's blurry at 100% on the screen it will print the same and be blurry. Hope that helps.

You have to bring the pieces flush- so when you bring your first two pieces together to mirror them and you see a pixel line when the pattern is enlarged to 100 % move one of the pieces over until the pixel line disappears. Then merge those 2 pieces and continue with the process. Again making sure your final pieces of the pattern are flush. The pixel line will show in the repeat if you don't get rid of it in the process. Hope that helps! Let me know if you are still having a problem.

+Kathyanne White I have the same problem. I do everything how you say and I still have the pixel line between two images. When I bring one of the pictures over to cover the line it "steals" some of the other picture and the mirror effect doesnt look perfect.:( What can I do to solve this problem ?
@KathyanneWhitekaart
@KathyanneWhitekaart 9 жыл бұрын
+magda stachurka You may be bringing the piece over too much. Usually it is just about moving it over one pixel or so to get the two pieces flush. Make sure the pattern itself doesn't have that pixel around the border or when you fill the pattern it shows a pixel. In the next couple weeks I will make a video to show what happens and how to fix it.

+Kathyanne thank you - video on this problem would be so helpful :) when I dont pull the other picture so close I can still see the line but when I do it steals too much if the other picture like I said. and how do I get rid off the pixel line along the whole picture?
@KathyanneWhitekaart
@KathyanneWhitekaart 9 жыл бұрын
+magda stachurka Hello- you get rid of the pixel line around the whole pattern by cropping around the whole edge about a pixel or 2 so the line won't appear when the patter repeats.
