Thank you for the beautiful comment Robyn! 💜 And thank you for your great suggestion for a future video. 😃 To add a PayPal smart button to your WordPress site, do the steps in the video up to the 04:15 mark, where you press "Copy Code" on the PayPal website, then do the following 10 steps: 1. Paste the code into a text editor such as Notepad and save it. Note: This step isn't vital, but helpful if anything goes wrong in the later steps. 2. Log into your WordPress site. 3. From the Dashboard go to Pages > All pages. 4. Select the page you want to add the Smart Button code to. 5. Press "Edit." 6. Edit the page in HTML mode by switching from visual to HTML. 7. Paste the PayPal Button code onto the page where you want it to appear. 8. Update the page. 9. Preview the page and make sure it's orientation looks right. 10. Test the "Pay with PayPal" and "Debit or Credit" buttons and make sure all of the details such as the description, price, tax, etc., are correct. Hope this helps Robyn.

@websitewiz 9 ай бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your feedback. You can also access the buttons page by going to >> paypal.com/buttons if the option is not showing in your menu bar. However, PayPal has changed the process since we originally created this video 2 years ago. So once you go to the buttons page, it may redirect to you to a Developers page. It appears that all PayPal buttons now need to be coded in directly. If you'd like to avoid coding your buttons, or are not familiar with how to do it, you could set up your buttons using a website service like Wix, or Squarespace that makes this easy. Hope this helps!

Hello thanks for this How can i know checkout in sandbox Paypal account through express
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 5 ай бұрын
Hi Salaudeen, thanks for your question! To determine if your PayPal account is in Sandbox mode, you can look for a few key indicators: 1. **URL Check**: Check the URL when you are logged in. If the URL contains "sandbox.paypal.com", you are in the Sandbox environment. The regular PayPal accounts operate under "paypal.com". 2. **Dashboard Appearance**: When you log into the PayPal Sandbox environment, the interface typically mentions "Sandbox" somewhere on the dashboard, often at the top or in the account overview section. 3. **Email Notifications**: If you receive email notifications from PayPal and they mention "Sandbox" or "Test Email" within the subject or body, it's a clear indication that the actions are being performed in a Sandbox environment. 4. **Testing Features**: If you're able to perform tests without real money transactions and with test data, such as using test credit card numbers, this is another sign that you're in the Sandbox environment. If you're developing or testing integrations and you're unsure or need to switch between modes, you might need to log out from one environment and log in to another with the appropriate credentials. Hope this helps!

Hi Rocky, thank you for your suggestions. If you have pasted the code into your web page and the button is not showing up, that could mean there is an error in the code. We suggest starting again from the beginning and go through step by step to make sure the code is correct. Even adding an extra period, or comma etc. will break the coding so that the button won't work. Hope this helps!

I have an education site, so my products are services rather than physical items. In a non-shopping cart scenario like mine, how do you determine whether the buyer's payment was approved or not? If approved, how do you redirect them to, in my case, the lesson page? How do you prevent the tech savvy buyer from 'viewing' the page, obtaining your client-id and forwarding URL to bypass the payment page altogether? Thanks for any help.
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, Great question! I can only give general educational advice of course, as I'm not a qualified business advisor. That said, building an educational site with the requirements you're specifying, these simple stand-alone PayPal buttons won't be able to do what you need, unless you are able to code them to do more. And even If coding is an option for you, it will require so much expertise and upkeep, you'd probably be better off paying for an already-built e-commerce system that does what you need out-of-the-box, such as WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Shopify. A quick comparison of these three is: 1. WooCommerce - the cheapest (free), but it has the greatest learning curve of the three. 2. BigCommerce - cheaper overall than Shopify but with a greater the learning curve than Shopify. 3. Shopify - the easiest to implement, but the most expensive solution, in our opinion, over the long term. I'd contact each of their customer-service departments and ask specific questions about whether they can do what you need, especially asking if their software can detect when payments are made, and if so, whether it then able to redirect customers to specific "paid only" pages. Hope this helps.

Hi Zabii, usually the fees are based on each transaction value. Last time we checked it was a small flat fee + a percentage of the transaction value. But the exact rates may vary depending on your banking location and other factors, such as your customer's location etc. Best bet would be to do a Google search for "PayPal Merchant Fees (ADD YOUR COUNTRY)" for more info or contact PayPal direct: www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/contact-us Hope this helps!

This comment and its materials are not intended to be used as a substitute for advice from your professional or licensed business or financial representative. Always seek the advice of your own licensed business or financial adviser or other qualified business or financial provider for any advice you need regarding any business or financial matters. If the conversion fees are significant and you have a global customer base, moving to USD might make sense. Otherwise, staying with GBP could be more beneficial if most of your customers are UK-based. *1. Keep Store Currency in GBP* *Pros:* - Consistency for UK-based customers. - Easier accounting if your business is UK-based. - No conversion fees for transactions made in GBP. *Cons:* - International customers may see fluctuating prices due to conversion rates. - PayPal may charge conversion fees when converting GBP to USD during the transaction processing. *2. Switch Store Currency to USD:* *Pros:* - Aligns directly with PayPal’s preferred currency, potentially reducing conversion fees. - Simplifies the pricing structure for international customers. *Cons:* - UK customers will see prices in USD, which might be less convenient. - Potential confusion or dissatisfaction among local customers due to currency differences. *Evaluate Your Customer Base:* If the majority of your customers are from the UK, keeping GBP might be more customer-friendly. If you have a significant international customer base, switching to USD might reduce transaction costs. *PayPal Fees:* Check PayPal's fee structure for currency conversion and consider how significant these fees are for your business. *Customer Experience:* Think about what provides the best experience for your customers. Consistency and simplicity often lead to higher satisfaction. *Conclusion* Balance the ease of transactions (aligning with PayPal's USD preference) against the customer convenience of seeing prices in their local or familiar currency. If the conversion fees are significant and you have a global customer base, moving to USD might make sense. Otherwise, staying with GBP could be more beneficial if most of your customers are UK-based. Hope this helps!

I have already added this in my site but there's 1 button that says "Pay Later". How can I deactivate that?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 6 ай бұрын
Hi Razelvi, to deactivate the "Pay Later" option when you've integrated PayPal Smart Buttons on your website, you usually need to adjust the settings within your PayPal account or through the PayPal button integration code on your website. Here's a general guide to do it: *THROUGH PAYPAL ACCOUNT SETTINGS* 1. *Log in to your PayPal Business account*: Access your account on the PayPal website. 2. *Access the Button Settings*: Navigate to the area where you manage your PayPal buttons. This could be under "Seller Tools" or a similar section depending on PayPal's current interface. 3. *Edit Button Features*: If PayPal offers direct control over the "Pay Later" feature from the account settings (this might not always be the case), you'll find an option to edit or remove specific features related to the buttons. 4. *Disable Pay Later*: Look for options related to financing or Pay Later features and disable them. *THROUGH BUTTON INTEGRATION CODE* If you don’t find an option to disable the Pay Later feature directly from your PayPal account settings, you may need to adjust the PayPal Smart Button code on your website: 1. *Find the PayPal Smart Button code* on your website. This is the code snippet you added to integrate the PayPal buttons. 2. *Adjust the code*: You need to include the `disable-funding` option and specify `paylater` as the value you want to disable. Here’s how you can add it to the existing Smart Button code: paypal.Buttons({ // Your button configuration disableFunding: 'paylater', // Other options like createOrder, onApprove, etc. }).render('#paypal-button-container'); This javascript code tells PayPal not to offer the Pay Later option as part of the Smart Button options on your website. *IMPORTANT NOTES* - *Test the Changes*: After making these adjustments, the Pay Later option should no longer appear to your customers. However, it’s good to test the button to ensure everything works as expected. - *Documentation and Support*: Since PayPal occasionally updates its features and how they're managed, it's wise to consult the [PayPal Developer Documentation](developer.paypal.com/docs/) or contact PayPal support for the most current methods. If you're not comfortable making these changes yourself, consider reaching out to PayPal support for additional guidance. Hope this helps.

@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately there is no simple way to set up a redirection to a file using this PayPal button. It would require server-side coding to work. If you're not familiar with coding, your best bet would be to pay for a premium solution that includes a file download option as part of your website builder. E.g. a Wordpress plugin, or a Wix business plan etc. where it's all taken care of for you. If you go the coding route, the first thing we'd recommend is using PayPal's 'Buy Now' or 'Add to Cart' buttons. Not the 'Smart' button. Reason being is that they both include a 'redirect to URL after payment' option when setting up the buttons. You could include a URL where your digital product is located. That said, to make it secure you'd still need to do some custom coding. And unfortunately we don't have the coding skills to tell you how to do this. Here is a link to the PayPal forum where a user had a similar question as you: www.paypal-community.com/t5/Selling-on-your-website/Automatic-download-after-payment/td-p/556398 Hope this helps!

Wonderful Video, Thank You! My PayPal Business Account showed me a window menu to set up a PayPal Smart Button, similar to yours but I want to place *3* *separate* *PayPal* Buttons on my Product Webpage (usually so Folks from the USA, The U.K., or Canada can order) as I have 3 different Shipping Prices. Once I completed my "USA" Smart Button, I couldn't find the option to create a similar PayPal Smart Button and start again. how does the api know what the payment is for and what to do after the payment is made? for instance, allow access to a webpage after payment
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Using the Smart button shown in this video, PayPal only knows what the payment is for based on the info you provide when setting up the button - in the field 'Item Description'. It's in no way connected to your website or dynamic products on your site. It's a standalone button on PayPal only. Once a payment is complete using the button, PayPal displays a successful payment message. If you need to redirect your customers to another page after they purchase, then we recommend using a different button for that. The 'Smart' button requires coding to make that work. So the easiest way would be to use another button that allows redirection to another page as part of setting up your button. You can do this easily using PayPal's 'Buy Now' or 'Add to Cart' buttons. These are located on the same page as the ‘Smart’ button of your PayPal account, as shown in the video. There is a field listed for redirection. This is the easiest way we have found to redirect a customer to another page after purchase. Please note that it is not a secure link. Meaning that once a person knows the redirection URL, when they land on it, they will be able to access it anytime. If you want a more secured option, where the URL only loads after confirming that a person is a paying customer, this would need to be coded in and required a more advanced setup. If you're not familiar with coding, in that case you'd be best to pay for a third party platform to manage this function for you and avoid the standalone PayPal buttons altogether. We hope this helps answer your question.

How does this work for shopping cart applications though? My website allows customers to design/order screen printed apparel, so obviously no two order amounts are going to be the same. I need PayPal to handle the transaction, but the transaction amount is dynamically generated (depending on what they're ordering). This approach seems a bit redundant, as you've got to generate a separate button for each individual item in your store. My website uses a "shopping cart" approach, where the user builds an order and then "checkout" is the final step, and I need PP to capture payment for the full cart total.
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi Sixstanger00, yes you're right that this approach is tedious for those with larger stores that need to generate a lot of buttons and have dynamic pricing based on variable product options. However, we do mention that at the beginning of the video, and only recommend this method for those with smaller stores and low start up budgets. This button doesn't provide you with an entire e-commerce solution. But it does allow you to take payments on your website with no upfront setup costs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eV7XmYqoeLqMfNU From what you've said that you need, this system would work, but there are many paid shopping cart integrations that plug into PayPal more seamlessly and easily, which would work better.

What is live webhooks? Is it mandatory to fill?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bharat, *What is live webhooks?* To summarize Wikipedia, a webhook is a method of increasing the usefulness of a web page or web app by triggering actions based on an initial action. An action completed by the user starts the process. In the case of Cookies, the action can be as simple as just visiting the site. That one action triggers one or more messages to be sent to one or more other places on the web, triggering even more actions, and so on and so on. Some simple examples of webhooks are: • A comment being posted to a blog ticks up the count of comments by one. • Cookies that track where you go and what you do online. • A date and time on your calendar app that triggers an alarm on your computer and an email sent to your email account, reminding you of an appointment. • A sale on your shopping website triggering an email to be sent to the client confirming their order and another to you, to your fulfilment department and to your shipping department. • A new sign-up triggers a welcome email to be sent to the new subscriber. *Is it mandatory to fill?* As to what is mandatory to fill, I don’t know Bharat? You’ll have to provide more information. Thanks. Hope this helps.

@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi Howard, the guest checkout option (or "account optional") is only allowed by PayPal as long as several risk factors are not present during checkout. These include, but are not limited to, 1. The buyer's PayPal purchase history. 2. Any negative cookies stored on the buyer's computer. 3. The buyer's location. 4. A credit assessment. If any of these factors raise a red flag for PayPal, they'll ask your buyer to log into their PayPal account, or create a new account, regardless of your option settings. Hope this helps clarify things.

They are too simplistic and limited for such an application. To do what you're asking, I would integrate the PayPal API into a complete ecommerce solution, such as Woo commerce, Big Commerce or Shopify, that can be more easily modified to do what you want.

You would just need to add your email address / PayPal account name to your website builder account settings and they do the rest. By the sounds of it your current website is using standalone PayPal buttons, which wouldn't be necessary with the newer website builders. Hope this helps answer your question.

Thankyou so much For this it was really very helpful. Well can you please help me out a bit beacause my issue is complete opposite. Actually I want to remove the express checkout button from my Wix e-commerce website as when people select it they are automatically redirected to PayPal and shipping is not getting calculated. So can you please let me know how can I just remove the PayPal express checkout button from the checkout page? Thankyou so muchhh☺️

You're welcome Nikhil! 😃 It may not be possible to delete the button, but you should be able to hide it, as per the explanation from the 12:31 mark to 12:53 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIOqq6aPodWCfbs Hope this helps!

This is extremely helpful. I have a question though, does it mean you have to create a button for every product on the website when they a differently priced
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes that's right. You would need to create a different button for individual products on your website. As such this button is only appropriate when you have less than 10 products.

Hi Gala, we don't have a Facebook shop, so I couldn't test this beforehand, but the best guide I could find on how to do this, is the PDF here: www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwivv5CH06n6AhX_9jgGHbKHD_oQFnoECCgQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paypalobjects.com%2Fwebstatic%2Fmktg%2Fintegration-guides%2Ffacebook.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1-LrbO2l1DidU-np5jfa7O Hope this helps and good luck with your shop! 💜

Hi Wiz, please help! I used this guide a few months ago and it worked perfectly. I just tried to create a new button and the page shown at 2:20 doesn't show up anymore. It just takes me to a developer site where it talks about code. Is this functionality no longer available?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi Nicolas, it does appear that PayPal has made some changes to their button pages since we created this video over a year ago. From what we can see it now needs to be coded in to work. If you're not familiar with coding, you'll need to outsource this. Another option would be to connect to PayPal through one of the paid website platforms out there such as Wix, Squarespace etc. Or a third option would be to use a different button type such as 'Add to Cart' or 'Buy Now'. We have another video that shows how to set these buttons up here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eV7XmYqoeLqMfNU Hope this helps!

Very helpful, thank you. However, are these buttons definitely only available to those with the 'business' accounts? That is the account type for which you need to pay a monthly subscription fee? Thanks

Hi Jem, glad you found the video helpful 💜 As far as we know these buttons are available on both a personal and business account. For a business account, there is no monthly subscription fee. However, PayPal does deduct a fee + a percentage of the transaction amount for each order. Hope this helps!

Why i didn't find the paypal button
@websitewiz
@websitewiz 11 ай бұрын
Hi Sohaib, unfortunately PayPal is no longer offering standalone payment solutions, such as their Smart Button, without coding it in directly, or using one of their partner applications, such as Wix, Squarespace etc. Meaning if you have a new PayPal account, or this is your first PayPal button, this option is not available for you. If you want to take the coding path, please check out this page on PayPal's website to get started: developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/standard/ Otherwise, the only other way to connect PayPal buttons to your website is to sign up for a paid solution as mentioned above. Hope this helps!

Very helpful tutorial - thank you! I know that PayPal will email a response to me after a client submits a payment - but is there any way that PayPal can communicate a response back - either directly to the client's browser, or via an api back to my own web server. Some sort of response code to indicate if transaction was successful or not?
@websitewiz
@websitewiz Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question. As far as we know there isn't a way to do make PayPal communicate a response back as such but it could be possible with programming knowledge. Alternatively, you could use a third-party automation platform that performs an action (such as a 'response') based on events (such as a 'successful payment') Basically, the automation software is connected to your PayPal account and your email program. You then use the software to trigger your Email account to send an automated email every time you receive a payment to your PayPal account. There are 3 automation platforms that we think would work well for what you want to do: 1. www.zapier.com 2. www.automate.io 3. www.make.com (Also known as Integromat) PayPal is considered a premium app with Zapier and Automate, so you would need a paid plan to make it work with them. But Make.com has a free plan that will work with PayPal. However, Zapier looks to be the easiest to use... but is the most expensive. Automate is affordable with plans starting at $9 / month. And Make has, as I mentioned, has a limited free plan, which you could use to make this work. But we did find it to have more of a learning curve than the other two. All of them, of course, have a learning curve though. If you are going to use Make.com, we recommend you watch these videos first: 1. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d56sfamqbN-FgNU 2. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGqcpYN-mNZ7sKc Hope this helps!
