UPDATE: Some of you have mentioned you got a "Upgrade your plan" pop-up when you want to connect to a custom domain 🧐. This was a bug and has been fixed by Stackbit 🥳 EDIT 2023: Some of you have pointed out that Stackbit seems to have changed their pricing plans so you have to upgrade to connect to custom domain. But as many others have pointed out, you can push your website code to Github, and deploy the website yourself on Netlify. @@melynachabane2026 Hi Melyna, it could be that Stackbit has changed their pricing plans so you have to upgrade to connect to custom domain. But as many others have pointed out, you can push your website code to Github, and deploy the website yourself on Netlify. @@noonehere_kasut Depends on how you approach it. You could do projects tomorrow if you wanted to. I took the long route and learned python, excel, tableau, and sql before focusing on projects. I'm in my 4th month of studying 8-10 hrs mon to fri to get to this point.

Hey Thu! I loved your video, and was able to successfully make a portfolio using stackbit! However as my projects expanded to involve Plotly visuals and Tableau dashboards, I'm having a really hard time embedding them on Stackbit. Their help discord is geared towards Developers so not seeing much assistance. Would you ever consider making another video to provide a demo on embedding dashboards? Thanks!

Hey Nayeem, that’s a good question! I personally think portfolio should be part of your consulting website. It shows your skills and past experience so if I had to choose, I’d combine them, and maybe showcase the projects I’m most proud of. This is a nice example www.claudiatenhoope.com/

Thanks for your sharing. It is so helpful, and I can't wait to post the website on my Linkined profile. However, I found it difficulty entering my customer domain in the Domain tab under Project Setting in Stackbit. The display version is different than yours. It only has two options "upgrade the plan" and "see all the plan". Can someone help me out for this issues? Thank you.

I have solved this question. I would like to share to you all. You can always transfer the code repository to your own github account and create your own deployment in netify. once you transfer the repo, you can keep using stackbit studio as usual.

Hey, I'm not sure but I think you can. Please ask this question on Stackbit's discord channel. Their software engineers are very helpful and hopefully can show you how to do it!

It seems that Stackbit has changed their plans. But you can always submit your website code to your GitHub repo and then use it to deploy the website via Netlify. Hope it helps!

Are you using a paid plan with Stackbit? When I click to publish to my own domain, it prompts me to upgrade my plan and to try it out with a 14 day free trial.

@@Thuvu5 Thanks for the follow up. I did. I wonder if it's because I used a Google account to login instead of making an account through their account creation tools. Well, that's unfortunate. Testing that theory lead to an endless cycle of verify/invalid verification. I'll see if I can troubleshoot on their Discord. In any case, this isn't on you, and I do appreciate your sharing the idea to build out a portfolio web site.

@@piggjf ​ @James P Hey James, thanks for trying that out. I actually just tried to create another website and click on custom domain, then I also saw a prompt that says upgrade your plan 🤯. It could be that Stackbit has just changed their policy. I'm in contact with the cofounder of Stackbit so I'll check this with them. In the worst case, we can transfer the code to our Github repo and then host the website on Netlify ourselves. This is what I did for my other site. Please see the "Deploy to Netlify" section in this article medium.com/towards-data-science/a-z-guide-to-create-and-deploy-a-website-with-gatsbyjs-github-netlify-fd8339650fc7. But I'll confirm with Stackbit first. Will keep you posted! 😁
