Yes you could and thats a great idea. If you are doing it this way, remember to add flowers at the side and bottom rather than the top as you look down on it! Hope that makes sense.

I've always found that using even numbers of blooms causes the eye to subconsciously 'divide' them up, which is a bit odd.

That does make sense and with 6 its always works well, but I always feel that 4 is a really boxy number but the rules are there to be experimented with and broken, so as long as you are happy, go for it
