Hi, total newbie here but I'd like to ask: 1) Does the disk you want to write to have to be blank? I can't find any blank disks so may buy a cheap game on a disk already. 2) Does the Famicom disk system have to be modded in any way or is stock ok? 3) Can it only copy a disk to a disk? Or is there a way to put a NES game onto a disk instead of the patching method you showed? Thanks :)

Hi. Happy to help. 1) The disk you copy Super Mario Bros to doesn't have to be blank. The disk I used for this demonstration had something on it prior. It can even be a disk that previously didn't work if you'd like. 2) Your Famicom Disk System doesn't need to be modded. It seems like Super Mario Bros. is small enough to not trip any kind of copy protection. 3) You can use the FDS stick to copy disks to other disks but it's a bit complicated. You need a piece of software called Disk Hacker which can be found online. I'll make a video on it as soon as I can. As far as copying NES games to an FDS disk, I'm sure it's possible but I have no idea to what extent. Pirates apparently did it in the 80's, but I don't see a single disk image to back that up. Clearly, NROM games are possible, given games like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and SMB are available officially. But anything that uses a mapper might be out of the question. If you have any more questions I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks.

@@Jono1874 Cool, thanks for your swift reply. I did a video the other day but I was unable to do any sort of disk writing because it involved modding the disk system and blah blah blah. Then someone commented on the FDSStick and then came across this video 😊

Mind if I ask where you got your blank Famicom disk? I'd love to own a few of them so I can make my own lil like fan-games or something (maybe even like burning romhacks onto them idk)

I'm pretty sure it's the blank side of an Othello Disk.

@@Jono1874 Thank you for the response! Man that gives othello so many extra uses besides just being Othello lol
