At the time of writing this comment, I have put in a total of 8 hours watching different videos and still don't understand IPv4 and CIDR until I watch this video. Thank you very much. You gained a subscriber today.

Welcome to the channel, Taiwo! This is the nicest comment EVER! 🥰 I'm so glad it helped. I also found IP addressing really confusing when I first started learning it, so I feel your pain!

Thanks fo the videos. It helped me understand the concepts of CIDR I have a doubt though. While creating a VPC, there is no constraints aws is imposing on what CIDR we can select. So, what if multiple customers choose to have CIDR in same range? Who gets to create resources in that range. Again , thanks in advance!!
@TinyTechnicalTutorials
@TinyTechnicalTutorials 4 ай бұрын
Hi Mayank! 👋 I'm so glad the video helped. 😊 As far as addressing and overlap, AWS VPCs are isolated from each other, even across different accounts. This means that each AWS customer can define their VPCs using any CIDR block they choose, including those already used by another customer in a different VPC, even if those VPCs are in the same AWS region. So even if you choose the same range as another customer, there won't be any conflicts. Hope that helps! 😊

Hi thank you for the time you put into creating these videos. After creating the subnets, each subnets can then contain EC2 instances right?

Hi Amber. I understand that you created two subnets, one named "public-subnet-2a" and the other "private-subnet-2b". How does one subnet become public while the other become private? Are there additional settings that must be configured?
@TinyTechnicalTutorials
@TinyTechnicalTutorials Жыл бұрын
Hi Howard! 👋 What makes a subnet "public" is the fact that it's attached to an Internet Gateway so traffic can get in and out to "the world." A private subnet doesn't have a connection to an Internet Gateway (so all traffic stays "private," inside of AWS). But beyond that, the setup of the subnets is the same (you add the Internet Gateway connection after the initial creation of the subnet). I have another video here that explains it a bit, but we don't actually go build it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpO3l4KEpMqer68. If you want to do some hands-on work, this tutorial looks pretty good: jasonwatmore.com/post/2021/05/30/aws-create-a-vpc-with-public-and-private-subnets-and-a-nat-gateway. Hope that helps! 😊

Amazing video. Sorry I am a new dev and am curious to know which tool do you use to draw these network infrastructure diagrams ?
@TinyTechnicalTutorials
@TinyTechnicalTutorials 10 ай бұрын
Thanks so much, Avi!! 🙏🌟🤓 For diagrams, you can download the official AWS icons here: aws.amazon.com/architecture/icons/. And then I just put them together in PowerPoint...no fancy diagramming tools here. 😁

AWS itself consider those 5 left out IPs or we have to specify them at the time of creation of our subnets?
@TinyTechnicalTutorials
@TinyTechnicalTutorials Жыл бұрын
Hi Jyoti! No, AWS automatically reserves those IPs for themselves. You don't need to specifically do anything with them...just know that they're not available for you to use. 😊

I have used Ipv4 for vpc is 10.0.0.0/26 and For 1 subnet it's 10.0.0.0/27 and for other subnet it's 10.0.1.0/27 but still getting error of address is not within cidr address from vpc
@TinyTechnicalTutorials
@TinyTechnicalTutorials Жыл бұрын
Hi! If you go out to cidr.xyz and plug in the range from your VPC (10.0.0.0/26), you'll see that the first usable IP is 10.0.0.1 and the last usable IP is 10.0.0.62. The third tuple (where the "X" is here: 10.0.X.0) is not able to use a "1" there. Meaning the range used for subnet 2 (10.0.1.0/27) falls outside of the range of the VPC's CIDR range. If you wanted to use the same range you have for the VPC (10.0.0.0/26), you could split the available addresses equally, like this: -First subnet CIDR range: 10.0.0.0/27. This will have IP addresses from 10.0.0.0 to 10.0.0.31, with 30 usable IP addresses. -Second subnet CIDR range: 10.0.0.32/27. This will have IP addresses ranging from 10.0.0.32 to 10.0.0.63, with 30 usable IP addresses. But remember that AWS reserves the first four and last one IP addresses in the range, so you're not able to assign those to a resource. You can read more about that here: docs.aws.amazon.com/vpc/latest/userguide/subnet-sizing.html. Also, I've got a video here that goes into more details about addressing and figuring out the ranges and such: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOnpaqoZsmDptk. Hope that helps! 😊 And sorry for the slow reply...this comment got stuck in a filter for some reason.
