I'm new to CloudFormation and want to set up a second AWS account for my company, the first one was built manually from the console by many developers, and it is a bit "chatotic". Now I want to do it the "right way" and create every resource with CFN, and have the templates in a version control system (with proper linting and CI). I have a bit of experience with SAM and was able to deploy a few Lambda based application with it. Hovewer I felt that mindlessly copying the templates (and changing a few things) will not pay in the long run. This video helped to actually understand the basics of the structure, so now I'm more confident to go and create the VPC on the new account.

Thanks for making this video, each step referenced from AWS docs helped me a lot. One thing I noticed, when we run your cloud formation script, it create all the resources, Route table gets created as well but it doesn’t attach Route table with the newly created vpc, instead it attached vpc with existing route table which i already had in my AWS environment as main route table.

Hello RxnneClowie. We don't associate route table with VPC. Route table is created in a VPC and associated with the subnets in the VPC. Anytime you create a new VPC, a main route table will also be created in that VPC by default. Every VPC you create will have a main route table in them. You can also create additional route table. That's what you are seeing.

Hello Mesanga, CloudFormation is not always clear with the error message. Please check your spelling because YAML is case-sensitive. Also, make sure that your syntax is correctly indented. It is hard to tell without reviewing your code.

Hi, someone had this issue before, and it was because there was a typo in the value entered for the "AllowedPattern" property. Please review your syntax carefully. You can also copy the SSH Parameter in the video description.
