Well, thank you very much! I did need to watch a couple times because my brain didn’t want to accept which way the pocket was actually created! But I sewed along with you and it works! Hallelujah!

Thank you for refreshing my memory. I wanted the measurements of your pocket template but needed it right now (being too lazy to dig out a commercial pattern), so I used 16 x 40 cm and guessed where the slit would be. It was for a man's casual jacket. Pocket is great, my placement of the slit on pocket fabric- not so great::)

Thank you for your lovely comment ☺️ They do take a bit of practise to perfect. It’s all in the precision of marking, sewing and pressing. Easier to say / type than to do! 😂

@@HouseofMissSew I worked on this all day to perfect and make it at an angle on a 60’s vintage pattern. I hope to make the dress this week and will post. I struggled to get the pockets right for the angled slash but it was satisfying by bedtime! Yeah and thanks again

Where can I find the pattern for the self welt, I have been practicing trying to do the single welt pocket and it always turns out bad. Your technique is so simple and easy.
@HouseofMissSew4 жыл бұрын
Hi - the pattern isn’t currently available anywhere, except to students on my courses. If you email me at juliahincks@hotmail.com I can send you the pattern - it’s hand drawn so don’t expect anything too professional looking! 😊

this is my first time trying this.. I am trying to copy a pair of dress pants... I have them taken apart so far and wrote the info on the pants I am using for a pattern.. I am getting excited to start this--I hope I can do it... I am starting this at 68 years old...Thanks P.G.

Patricia Greene good luck!! You can do it! There is another way to create welt pockets using a separate welt piece... it’s very similar to my method in the ‘how to create a bound pocket’ video xx

How can we obtain a copy of the course materials to practice this technique? If it requires signing up for a course let us know how! Would appreciate a response since this is a superior technique and I'm anxious to try this....
@HouseofMissSew5 жыл бұрын
Estela Chandler sorry - the pattern pieces are only available to my students who are studying on my courses in Brighton, UK. You can create your own pattern piece for the pocket - it’s a rectangle approx 28cm x14cm with curved corners. Fold this in half and then draw on the small rectangle for the pocket opening- this sits on the fold line and extends above the line by approx 2cm. The longer sides of this rectangle are about 11cm in length. You can adapt the size of the pattern piece to the size of the pocket required e.g. change the length to make the pocket deeper or make the opening rectangle wider. The dimensions for the garment piece are given in the video.
