Hi all - thanks for tuning in... We had a quick chat about how we created our pollinator wildflower meadow, using only native seeds. The transformation has been amazing bringing in pollinators and wildlife. Thanks again... Aum

Nice job! It is fun to see the fruits of your labor. In our suburban community we’ve been adding more native plantings. We think this is responsible for the 14 known bird nesting sites on 4 of our properties. Lots of pollinators as well. Thx for converting your turf to meadow and making the earth a better and more beautiful and more functional habitat for wildlife and people too.

Letting this really brilliant steward of that beautiful PA spot- just thoughtfully recall the process slowly, is a skill as well.

Thank you so much… I learned a lot during the process. It started out in my mind differently, and ever up being what nature wants. Thank you 🙏 for watching. ☮️

Great stuff! From Nebraska and in year 1 of converting my turf into native Prairie. The result has been better than I expected..... I'm looking forward to killing more turf.

Thank you for watching - theres no thistle or multi-flora Rosa, or any invasives behind me. We do however have some mares tail (native, but problematic), and also some mugwort ( which is problematic as well). We manually pull when we see plants in the meadow that will out compete the natives. In the beginning there was a bunch of maintenance, but not so much any more. I hope you subscribe and follow along as we like to update the meadow progress. 🙏

How do you cut back a meadow? I have a garden tractor and was curious if I can do it woth that
@AumsAcre6 күн бұрын
Once a year. In Spring. Lots of beneficial bugs overwinter in some hollow stems. I’ve manual cut back with pruners to 4 inches, takes a long long time. But you can set tractor to 4/6 inches that way too. That’s what I did this year. You can you a weed trimmer, powerful one with thick gauge or those steel blades too. The other alternative is to not cut it back. Nature never cuts back it’s Meadows, so that’s probably the best way. It just depends on how tidy you want to keep things. I let mine go pretty long this year until I cut it back. Hope that helps and good luck. Let me know how it turns out. 🙏🙏🙏

Whats the reality of taking a lawn and turning it into wildflowers?
@AumsAcreАй бұрын
It’s actually not hard. The reality is it takes patience and researching what thrives in your own mini ecosystem. I would observe your surroundings and check out what grows natively already. That’s a good place to start.
