How to Create Digital Exhibit Stickers in Adobe Acrobat DC

Creating a custom digital exhibit sticker for your trial exhibits is easy...if you have the right tools. You'll need to download this PDF into a specific location on your computer, but once you do, you'll have a custom stamp that will automatically create a Plaintiff's, Defendant's, or a general exhibit sticker for your exhibit that automatically numbers itself by using the PDF's file name.
Here's a link to download the special exhibit sticker PDF:

Here's the location on your PC where you'll need to save it:
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\Stamps
After you've saved it there, close and restart Adobe Acrobat.
Note: this will not work with the free version of Acrobat, Adobe Acrobat Reader. you'll need a paid version for this to work.

This wasn't working on my Mac so I just googled a blank exhibit sticker and took a screenshot. Uploaded the screenshot as the stamp & opened a textbox on the stamp in the actual document numbering it. Just in case anyone else is ripping their hair out over this.

I want to be able to type in the exhibit number after I've imported the stamp, rather than having it dynamically import the file name. Having the exhibit number be the file name doesn't work for what I'm doing. Is it possible to type into that exhibit stamp after it's imported?

Is there any way to edit the stamps themselves? For example, change the Defendant stamp to say "Respondent's Exhibit". I tried to edit it in PDF before adding as a stamp in the Adobe file, but it would no longer allow me to change the number.

I have spent all day on this and here's what I am going through: My (My boss's) file name start with "Exhibit" i.e. "Exhibit A-1" It would work to remove the word Exhibit from the file name then put it back after making the stamp, but there are a considerable number of files here. Is there a way to edit it so the word "Exhibit" isnt on the download, and the rest of the file name after "Exhibit A-" would show up? Tldr, How do i delete your lettering and instead use my entire file name?

The oddest things is happening - the Defendant's Trial Exhibit and the Exhibit stamps automatically change numbers according to how my PDF is named. However, the Plaintiff's Trial Exhibit WILL NOT change from PTX008 - and of course - that is the one I need. Help please.

i have some theories as to what may have happened. i think the easiest way to resolve the issue is to close acrobat. then, delete the file you downloaded from the dropbox link. redownload the file and put the new copy back at the location specified in the description of this video. let me know if that works.

For Mac OSX / macOS: In Finder, open a new window, in the menu click on Go > Go To Folder... type ~/Library and hit enter. In your user Library folder, navigate to Application Support, in there navigate the Adobe subfolder, then Acrobat, then DC (or your current version name). In there, navigate to "Stamps" folder. Drag and drop the file in there.

@@MikeKoGTC I actually figured it out. For some reason, some of the files had .PDF at the end while others had .pdf. For the ones that were .PDF, the .PDF did not drop off. For the ones that were .pdf it did. I just renamed the files with a .pdf extension and it fixed the problem. Thanks.

I have to comment. This video is maddening. Why would you create an Exhibit Sticker that auto populates with the name of the pdf file and not tell us how to change that? You change the name of every single exhibit that you use because you have the Stamp set up to auto populate? That is a terrible system. Why not just set up the Exhibit Sticker with a text box? What if you add an exhibit and then you have to renumber all of your exhibits - you have to go back and rename all of your exhibits? This is a bad system. Plus - you do not know what your exhibits are as you have renamed them all with numbers or letters.

Not sure how familiar you are with actually going to trial but this is tried and true as the best method. First, don't add an exhibit and renumber all your exhibits. Just withdraw the exhibit and keep the numbers the same. Add new exhibits at the end of the list. You need to print your pre-numbered exhibits for the court so once you brand your docs with the stamp you won't be changing them. Otherwise you'll need to reprint your entire set of binders multiple times over. Don't do this until you have a fairly final exhibit list. Your exhibit list should tell you what your exhibits are, not the filename of the document. If absolutely necessary you can save the names of your files, rename them and then use the saved list to rename them again.
