After watching this excellent video I decided to create a planner. After trying Canva and its limitations I used Keynote and built a 290 psge planner with monthly, daily, and weeks pages. Again, thanks for your inspiration!

It’s the easiest workaround I’ve found! And if you stick to the same basic layout, once it is done it will be able to be used over and over with minimal effort!

Hey Wendy Jo! Brilliant video. This has literally saved my backside as I had just started to design a very bespoke planner for part of the film industry and I was stumped as to how I was gonna get all the pages I needed if I’d carried on in Canva. Question: do I need to make sure I have available those 365 individual day pages for those calendar hyperlinks to link to? Basically - do we need to have a unique page for a hyperlink to link to?

Awesome video, I just subscribed because I learned so much but my question is really simple and it’s about ROI; when I look at this and the work involved in just making the book versus say notion which allows me to easily glide around between pages etc. it just seems like notions a lot easier. Why would somebody choose this over Notion?

I wish they would change because when I upload it to Keynote, it changes the layout sometimes

Yes anyone you download from canvas as a PowerPoint and then bring it into Keynote it’s going to change. If upper downloading as a PNG like I explain in this, make sure you have your Keynote template set to the correct dimensions (which you should if you’re using my template) and then import the images at the correct size also. Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do unless Canvas adds Keynote as an option for download. And Even at that, font availability could still be an issue. The images is the easiest way I’ve found, but none of it can be done without some work unfortunately!

I am brand new to this, so please forgive what may be an incredibly stupid question. I also created my first planner and got smacked in the face with the page limit. I broke a 371 page planner into 3 designs on Canva and then found out you can't easily combine and fix your hyperlinks. "WHY NOT??" So...why can't the three Canva designs be download as .PDF and then the files combined in Adobe Acrobat? The pages come in without moving elements around or changing fonts and any existing hyperlinks still work. It's just a matter of adding the links so you can move around between what used to be three separate Canva designs. Am I missing something? Thank you!!!

Hello! If i buy your template do i have to follow all these steps or can i edit the design only using power point and export it. I don't know if I'll receive png images on power point if i buy it or if it's a full ppt editable template. It's easier for me on ppt that's why.

You’re only going to create the main heading type pages in Canva. As I understand it you’ll then add lots to a keynote presentation which can cope with lots of pages

Im trying the first option, as a pro canva user, but it seems impossible to download the canva into a png with a good resolution. It always seems blurry when zoomed. I mean if you see without zooming it seems ok, but its impossible to get the same resolution as the pdf download from canva can get. Am i doing something wrong?
@WendyJoDavis6 ай бұрын
Rather than creating your product with size in inches, create them in pixels. This will force the download to maintain the proper PPI when you download. I’ve created very large prints this way with no problem.
@anon6146 ай бұрын
@@WendyJoDavis yes I did it that way, max resolution, same as your example (2550/3300). After that I downloaded as a png from canva and inserted in powerpoint/googleslides and then exported the doc as pdf, but still the quality of the text lacks of the same resolution as if i had directly dowloaded the pdf from canva. Its visually clear when you zoom into a letter. In the pdf from canva its perfect and clear, but in the pdf from slides its blurry at the edges. Thanks a lot for your answer anyways, i dont know if there is something I am missing

@@anon614 I am also facing the same problem, were you able to find any workaround for this?
@befreckledwebbranddesign65433 ай бұрын
@@anon614 I have found that using the print > save as pdf option (pdf dropdown in the bottom of the print dialogue screen) rather than the export to pdf function gives a more crisp download result, even when zoomed in.

Have you had any problems with Canva saying your design is too large and is having problems saving and then puts me in view only mode? I have 103 pages now and it won’t let me duplicate pages or anything. Can I make another design and then upload 2 files when I am hyperlinking them? Or do all the pages have to be in the same Canva file?
@WendyJoDavis4 ай бұрын
Yes this continues to be a problem in Canva unfortunately. It’s why, when I sell my larger planners, I create multiple files in canva but then upload them all to Keynote (or PowerPoint) and hyperlink them there. You can’t hyperlink between files on canva.

@@brookewillis1910 that’s not a large enough pixel for a planner. Minimum is 2048x1536. I would go more towards 2732x2048 px

🙋🏾♀️ Once imported to Goodnotes can we add pages to a day? Eg an extra notes page without messing up the hyperlinks target point?
@WendyJoDavis2 ай бұрын
You can add extra pages, there just won’t be a hyperlink specific to that page unless you add a hyperlink also! It won’t mess up the other hyperlinks though. They automatically adjust!

@@Cafyleein canva but not keynotes by all accounts. I’d be saving all the different page styles into canva but not as one whole pdf doc just separate files which you then combine into one folder that zips down. Then you can import them all into keynotes. I think!!

Hey Wendy! When you export it from keynotes, are there specific settings you use? I exported it and the file is large and my normal pens in Goodnotes look teeny tiny but when I go to a different document the pens are fine so I’m assuming it’s the file. Any help would be appreciated! Your videos have been the most helpful in all the ones I’ve watched.

@WendyJoDavisАй бұрын
When did you make it? Google changed their file size allowance and it’s killing the ability to do anything for free!! All of my larger files now have to be moved to either PowerPoint or Keynote and then saved as pdf. Nothing is working in slides now. 😑

In 2024 there is a 300 page limit :)
@WendyJoDavis6 ай бұрын
Yes but unfortunately there is also an element limit so if you are doing a large hyperlinked planner it still can’t handle it.
@PamBrossmanChannel6 ай бұрын
That's true it's kinda a catch twenty two situation and I have brought that to their attention because what is the point of extra pages if every element including bullets and lines uses all the elements maximum per document before you get to 300 pages. I think it is ludicrous to consider a bullet and a line as an element. Not sure how it works with tables. Maybe using tables for lines will get you past 200 instead of individual lines. @oDavis

I'm trying to figure out how do you create a cover image like yours that looks like a real notebook?
@WendyJoDavis6 ай бұрын
It’s a mockup in canva! Search in elements for mockups and it’s under print mockups. I use the one that has a solid background so I can add my cover then remove the background to use just the image of the book. You’ll want to click edit>fill after you put your image in there or it won’t cover the whole page!
