I am new to Tableau and this is by far the most useful & clear video I have seen on Dual Axis. In a sea of frustration with this tool, where there is life and Andy Kriebel, there is hope. Thank You.

Any suggestions on a dual axis chart with different data sources for X axis & different volumes for the Y? For example: submission date and closed date for quantity of service requests. So you have two dual axes: the top and bottom are dates for submitted and closed respectively and the left and right are the volume for submitted and closed respectively.

Hi Andy, does the lollipop chart not work with filters? If I add a filter and let the lollipop changes for the mesures the size of the bars and circle changes from thin to fat which is not what I want. Help!!!

Hey Andy, I hope you are doing well. Thanks for making one more video. One query, I want to synchronize two different axis (% and volume) but I want to align the axis without making other axis to volume
@vizwiz3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make logical sense. Synchronizing means that have the same scale.

I know this is old but I would love to see a demo of the dual axis chart and how to filter only one of the two axis while the other remains fixed. I am working on some data for individual counties and would like the second axis to be the state total for the measure and stay the same while I am changing the first axis to an individual county level data.
@vizwiz3 жыл бұрын
You can used a FIXED level of detail expression for the axis that you want to remain unchanged. The other axis would change based on the filters you choose. The FIXED will not be impacted because it calculates before dimension filters in Tableau's order of operations.

Hi Andy, for your 'lollypop' chart, if I want to put a tennis ball at the end of the bar chart, because I want to create a viz for 'Tennis GOAT - Greatest of All Time', is there an easy way to do so please. Thank you. Judy from sunny Melbourne
@vizwiz3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Instead of using a circle for the lollipop, use a Shape mark type. Make sure you have the tennis ball in the "Shapes" folder in your My Tableau Repository. Once you do, click on the Shape shelf and choose the tennis ball.

Thanks for this. But does anyone have a link to a tutorial where the two variables are not in different columns of the dataset? I need to present two years in front of each other, so as to compare the two years month by month.
@vizwiz2 жыл бұрын
If I understand you, you have year in one column and the values are in another and you want one year to be bars and another as a line. Show them both by month. You will need to create two calculated fields, one for each year. This will take your date column and crest two columns. For example, use this calc for each year: IF YEAR([Date]) = 2020 then Sales End Once you have the two columns, you can create the dual axis chart.

I mainly use dual axis to show the labels for the color categories and for the total, but it also has many possibilities with the design as you did. I published an ebook in Kindle called Tableau Neural Book that includes this and other 50+ tutorials for tricks from the basic to the complex. If you're a beginner I'd say you go see the topics for free, I think it will be useful for you ;)

+Luke Beacon what do you mean by too basic?
@LukeBeacon8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Kriebel I guess I am just used to your more nuanced workaround videos. No worries, though, still a great vid! :)

+Luke Beacon Gotcha! We're building a training campaign at The Info Lab and we couldn't find a good dual-axis video, so I created this one instead.
