Could you make barrettes or hair clips with these? How would I go about connecting a barrette clip or a Bobby pin to the piece?

You have a few options, you could solder on a silver bobby pin onto the back of your silver clay embellishments, or potentially use a really strong glue such as araldite. The soldered option would definitely be more secure. Hope that helps! x

how did you get the clay out of the impression die?

It's sometimes helpful to leave the clay to dry before removing it from a mould, especially the moulds that aren't flexible. Hope that helps! x

Probably a stupid question but how do they go from dull grey to shiny silver? Does that just happen when they dry or when you torch them?

Once the clay is fired and the polished it will become shiny x

I just wanted to let you know that I found a big set of leather punches on Amazon that are very similar to the little round ones you were using. They were really reasonable and they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Just an FYI as I'm sure you already know this.
