Such a great tutorial. You already changed my modeling skills in the best way and now I can even make my own decal collection. Thank you so much

I'm following along and I can't find the option to change the face strength of weighted normals to affected. Is it in the standard control - tilda hops menu?

@@PonteRyuurui Thanks man, but I did hit another snag. When I bake it comes out as a strip that sits on top of the model. It's like it's baking from the wrong angle? imgur.com /a/XpP2VWz

Still need to work this out to move forward. Works fine with the demo decals. Hopefully it will become clear doing some of the other DM tutorials.

Hello,I have a bunch of old zbrush alphas height/normal. What would be the best way to prepare these for decal machine?
@PonteRyuurui3 жыл бұрын
you need geo for DM to work
@memnok99803 жыл бұрын
@@PonteRyuurui what's the purpose of baking if the hipoly geo is required? Isnt the deferred decal (ue4) referenced from the bake data and projected onto a flat plan? Is it that I need the hipoly to reference for DM to work?
@PonteRyuurui3 жыл бұрын
@@memnok9980 no man, you need geo to bake from, so you can create a decal. you cant get normal maps from thin air. i think you are confusing HP bakes with decals, those are different things, even though both involve baking
@memnok99803 жыл бұрын
@@PonteRyuurui Correct. But if I have a folder of 1x1 normal maps Then I should be able to make a decal with that is what I'm saying.
@PonteRyuurui3 жыл бұрын
@@memnok9980 sure, you could try, thing is DM is creating node setups unique to DM so it would take some fiddling

Already have Decal Machine, and its so incredible, its beyond belief. 😍Already subbed to this brilliant channel.😍 Thank you so much for this (another) awesomely skilled video.)😍 *Quick question. **7:13** How did you create the original geometry, to achieve the mesh effect over that decal?* Do you have, or know of a tutorial on it please?
@PonteRyuurui4 жыл бұрын
Cheers, yeah DM is outstanding. You create it from subd plane, got to poke it then alt J it then inset it. I think i ahve a vid somewhere on the channel about it.
@Bergerons_Review4 жыл бұрын
So the lesson here is that it sucks to bake it but you need bounce.
@PonteRyuurui4 жыл бұрын
well it depends really, i mean if the area is small then you should be fine, but yeah bonce makes it all come together

Only problem I have with this tutorial is I cannot seem to get alt + X to work in 2.83
@PonteRyuurui4 жыл бұрын
you mean the mirror? you use hardops right? Also dont use it in edit mode unless you disable machine mirrors, same shortcut.

@@PonteRyuurui Thank you sir, because when I press alt + x it gives me an align pie menu and yes I use hardops

@@AllThingsGundam ALT A is align pie menu from Machine Tools, ALT X is a mirror.

Mate I would suggest to wait for competition to arrive(Nvidia witholding some cards as ace) after that you might be interested in 3080(ti) or even 3090. From what we know as of now they "Decimate" previous generation at lower price (3070 near equal to 2080ti at $500 not sure about japan market thou). It is a far shot but if developers of Decal machine implements ray tracing dedicated hardware bounce Light option drops to %5-10. You won't go back after that point ;D
@PonteRyuurui4 жыл бұрын
the baking has nothing to do with hardware at this point, it is blender limitation, baking in blender is shit, i ll be definitely getting new cards but lets see first what they have to offer, it will also take a while for stable drivers to drop
@Kholaslittlespot13 жыл бұрын
I don't know man, a lot of this 'decimating the previous generation' talk was induced by marketing . We've often seen increases in this range. Just look at a 1070 compared to a 980Ti, they run pretty much the same as well. In fact, in the past some previous jumps were bigger. Still great cards, if you can get them!
