We need to allow the users to move the columns to any where so we opted to create all the columns as attribute instead of metrics Do you see any potential issue in creating the freeform sql report only with attributes .

Hey James, if possible please help us with the below scenario I have 3 attributes A1, A2 & A3 and I have 3 metrics M1, M2 & M3 . When I select attribute A1 I want the metric M1 alone and when I want to select A2 and the metric M2 . How do I achieve this ?

Is this a free form sql report? Or is this a regular report and how are the users “selecting” the attributes? Are you using a object prompt? Can you give me some more background?

You should only use it in situations where you MUST. It should simply be looked at as an option for very specific situations that cannot be solved with normal reporting.

@@karthikeyanravi9720 Sure, sometimes you might have a situation where you have to create a report that uses a table that is not mapped in MicroStrategy. Remember, everything in MicroStrategy from tables to facts to metrics has to be mapped and built by an architect or developer in advance of being used in a regular report. Freeform SQL allows you to build reports using database objects that are not part of the MicroStrategy schema. It would be just like writing a query against the database itself.
