thank you Veronica. I loved the way that you put the repeating patterns in the background and have experimented with this idea by putting a very light stencil repeated for my background. It worked well and made the drawing look a bit like a map.

I use fabriano artistico extra white hot press 300 GSM watercolor paper because I draw very fine detailed animals and the smooth surface allows me to get very fine detail in the fur. This paper takes many layers without any problems for me.

How about pastelmat? I heard people use it for coloured pencils too. ☺️

I haven't tried that paper but my guess it's similar to uart because these are pastel papers. Poychromos work great on those.
