How do you currently use Evernote for note-taking? Have you developed techniques for keeping your notes organized and clear in Evernote?

My dude. I've checked out about 5 videos on how people use evernote - yours is the most coherent and organized. You start with a concept, then break it down. Easy. While I never heard of the PARA approach, I plan on altering part of it for my use. YOUR video gave me the perspective to shift that structure. Thank you as this deserves more views/likes

Finally a video that actually explains this app in a useful way. Most other videos go over the features on a fresh install with no or 1 note. Going through this app with a full deck actually demonstrates why this app is so useful. Kudos.

This is an awesome presentation. I suspect that 80% (or more?) of Evernote users just have a random disorganised collection of gathered notes (just based on the old 80/20 rule). Mostly just making use of their most recently captured notes. Organising content in a logical structured way, is the crucial key to successful personal knowledge expansion, beyond what our conscious brain is capable of recalling, when it's actually needed (well, for most of us anyway). 🤔

Great video. Lewi. I use PARA in Evernote very much as you do and it helps me organise my notes when reviewing my inbox, which I try to do every Sunday. The beauty of PARA is it can be used in almost any system. I have Outlook set up in a similar way to move my messages, flagging the emails that need action. A simple search folder for flags then allows me to look at these in folder or date order.👍

Great content. I have been a user for years too. Unfortunately I have found that the app on the phone takes up a lot of battery life!! Have you found this?? I would be curious to see how you use all your tools together. I understand you use Notion, Trello and Evernote is that correct? I am a space cadet too and find having so many tools get confusing so I would really appreciate your insight
@LewiGault Жыл бұрын
Hey Samantha! I’m always chopping and changing things to see what works best for me. I’ve recently taken a back step from Notion as I find myself being “consumed” by it and overwhelmed with how much you can do with it. I use Trello primarily as a CRM / Task Management System. I’ll put a video out on that soon. Although I’ve recently been using the task manager on Evernote (video coming out on Friday). Really - I’m trying to minimize how many tools I use and truly figure out what I really need, instead of want.

@sanyuktakate409910 ай бұрын
Thank you for this one. I'm just starting out with Evernote and this is helpful. Just curious what do you do with the note in PROJECTS folder once you have finished executing that one? As in do you usually delete it or put it in another trash folder etc? I would prefer keeping only those notes which I need in the PROJECTS folder. Just looking for some directions here!

I would recommend putting them in the archive folder. You never know if there's any information from that project that might help you in the future.

Hi Lewi Gault: Thank you very much for a very useful and informative video on organizing Evernote. I wish you have created a basic video on how you created your folder structure EX: Stacks, Notebooks and notes. I am trying to understand how you set up your Evernote and the hierarchy you used to organize. I see Inbox and underneath it, I see Projects with several subfolders, same with areas, resources, and archives. I am coming back to Evernote after a break of several years. I know how to organize notes into stacks. Books and notes. Are your PARA main categories organized within stacks? /or/ Do you organize the subcategories of each PARA area in the following way: projects as a stack, books as subcategories, and notes for each book?

I know this is a bit old, but how to you get the folders under notes? I’ve only ever been able to create notebooks. You seem to have a folder and then notebooks with in those folders. Is that a feature that is now gone? Or on their more expensive plan?
@Adrian16Z4 ай бұрын
Never mind. I figured out they are called stacks. Wish I had researched that earlier. Would have made my life easier. 😅

Thanks for this video. In the latest version of Evernote, do you know why you can embed, preview and search within the body of any powerpoint, image or pdf file BUT you cannot search or preview the contents of a word document or rtf file. You could in the old version. The is a big game downturner if they are not bringing this back because a lot of people store their word docs on evernote like me but what is the point if the content is not searchable nor previewable? Any thoughts please? PS You are great

My issue with evernote is stringing bits of information. Atomic notes is very hard to implement and in a day and date of information overload, it's better for a system that organizes itself. Granted that Evernote has never been designed to that (in fact, I believe it was meant to digitalize paper notes), Evernote is still best to handle clumps of data. It excels in capture but when I start correlating these bunch of notes, it starts to fall off.
@MarcusTrawick Жыл бұрын
Same with me. I've tried everything and still nothing does the job better than Evernote. My Evernote system works. I just want to streamline it a little & consolidate my tags, which I have a lot of. I never thought of changing my notebook system until I saw this.

Hello Sir, Please help me in understanding "meeting" notes, which folder it is supposed to be ? . Is it in AREAS or PROJECTS ? I am working on a particular PROJECT eg: Building a software , which is in my PROJECT folder. And i have regular weekly team meetings on it , so i keep my "meeting notes" inside the PROJECT folder. But "meetings" is a on-going thing as well which is supposed to be in AREAS folder. I am very confused on this. Do i need to duplicate meeting notes in both PROJECT and AREAS ? Please share your thoughts Sir . Thanks ! Edited : Sorry one more question. Suppose we move one of our project folder eg: "Paid Tax 2021" from PROJECTS folder to ARCHIVE. How can we in future identify by just seing the name of folder it is PROJECT, or AREA or RESOURCES ? as we will have so many folders in the ARCHIVE .
@sanyuktakate409910 ай бұрын
If it were me I would keep it in the PROJECTs folder because in a way you have meeting every week AKA you have deadlines every week to finish some amount work/task of your project. PLUS it would be better to keep all the notes regarding a specific project in one folder instead of duplicating. Better not over complicate which is the opposite of why we want to keep things organized!

@LewiGault Жыл бұрын
It really depends on how much you’re going to use it. If it’s something that’s going to hold a lifetime worth of work and be with your for a long time - yes. If it’s just for taking notes… probably not.

It's unfortunate that with the price increase and the slow deployment of new features, Evernote wouldn't compensate me for the remainder of my annual sub. I've been with them since Alpha and it's sad to see them treat me like that.
