a little old now, but I'm trying to create repeating detail components, e.g. a timber stud at 600mm centres, that always has an end stud and evenly spaces the intermediates up to max 600mm. Any ideas? thanks, been loving your videos

Thanks. I think you should lock your lines to ref planes.

The intro is hilarious 🤣 and the last hint of the thicker outlines is very cool! 👍 nothing to add by my side, maybe I'd just put a parameter on the opening radius as well but it seems unnecessary in your case scenario.

Haha, that's literally what I look like whenever I see something like that 😀. Agreed, I too thought the radius parameter could be optional as for most cases you wouldn't need to show that level of detail. Fortunately adding the parameter is just as easy, just use the radial dimension instead of the linear one.

Thank you for this tutorial. How can I add a text / dimensions that tells the actual length of an annotative line dynamically as I change it in my project? Lets say the line length is 50 so the text shows 50, but when I stretch that line to be 70, the text will automatically change to 70.

How can I add linestyles to my detail components? I would like to have a smaller dashed / hidden line in my 2d detail components but linestyles are greyed out? Thanks Great video BTW

Thanks Peter! Sorry for the delay. In the family editor open Visibility and Graphics (VV), Object Styles and under Modify Subcategories you can manage current line style and create additional ones. Hope that helps!

when creating a new family I always question to myself which parameter is better: type or instant. At the moment instant parameter wins and all my projects are based on them, although I know they have some limitations ie can't use formulas. Good, basic video tho,
