double click on shape (to enter the mask) and only select the mask frame then click cut (Ctrl+X), double click on artboard (to exit from mask) then click paste in place (Ctrl+F) then move it

Hi there! Could you please make a video showing how you've done the black rope and its corners? I'm trying to replicate it using the construction concept of another video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4u0YqOAi8mImbM) but I never manage to get the corner to fit seamlessly with the rope. Also showing how the end of the rope could be done would really helpful. Thanks in advance.
