It's a very good tutorial for a PS beginner too. Great accurate steps, no messing around, or talking too much out of the topic. The most important that this is comprehensive and easy to follow! Thank you. I love your tutorials!

Thanks for this awesome tutorial! Loving it! However: How do I turn the layer black? I've tried the paint bucket, but it only seems to get parts of the picture. You seem to have done it in just one step? Thanks:)

What I don't get is the amounts change but when I tried it on a sunrise behind clouds it smudged the big ones and the small ones were too short.
@clearlyed8 жыл бұрын
That can happen and will be noticeable when you can clearly see the Light beams. but not to worry there is a way around this (I probably should have mentioned it in the Photoshop tutorial). All you have to do is repeat the filter more times which will continue to extend the beams. To do this you can just use the shortcut 'comment f'. this just reapplies the last filter you added. I hope this works in your quest for amazing photoshop light beams.

I seem to be having a problem when it comes to overlay.... it makes the lightbeams dissapear rather tgan blend them... what am i missing?
@Paul_C838 жыл бұрын
well they dont quite dissapear but they become very hard to see, is there. way to make them more visible so when i add a mask i can see what im editing in or out?
@clearlyed8 жыл бұрын
yes sure. Whilst you are editing out the right beams in photoshop just leave the blend mode on normal so you can see them then just change the blend mode once you are done. Remember you can change the blend modes at any point.... also if you are not seeing them, try another blend mode like screen. you can then play with opacity to bring it down. alternately when you are happy just duplicate the layer to make it stronger. I hope this helped.
@Paul_C838 жыл бұрын
that helped alot. thankyou

I would just like to say Ed that between you and Jo Brady my photography skills have increased tremendously, by far the two best instructors I have come across on the web. I have subscribed and purchased your LR & PS tutorials and my editing is also improving a great deal, I thoroughly recommend to anyone just starting with either one to invest in your tutorial package, they have it for life and the benefits you gain from them, as apposed to trying to learn it by trial and error on your own is a no brainer. My sincere thanks, I will send you my master edit when I have mastered the programme. Take care, keep smiling. Ian. www.iansopenshutterphotography.com
