Thanks for your video and calm style. Another Zagreb-specific patch is to use at as a performance-friendly frequency splitter for mono lead vs. mono bass voices. Just patch the lead to left and bass to right ins and take left highpass and right lowpass to your mixer. Now you have a nice big knob to fade them around while keeping a clean mix. You can do it with a lot of stereo filters (or three sisters as I mostly do) but this module has excellent ergonomics for that!

Ahh nice! That's a great idea indeed :) You can use a filter like this on two completely different voices or sound sources of course, should have thought of that to. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much for this video 🙏 this open a lots of way of using this very nice filter. Tried quite all your patches at different speeds, with few different sounds sources and stereo effects and I found everytime some sweet results.

Hey, that' s awesome, enjoy! I'm slowly getting more and more involved in making and processing stereo sounds in the modular. This filter is a crucial tool :)

Glad to hear it! This year I will experiment a bit with different concepts. One of them is like this, use great modules to explain and demonstrate lots of valuable ideas. More to come for sure!

Great video, also very useful for people that don't own the featured module. Also, one of my cat was weirdly interested at the tv while watching this, I had to pause before he attacked your fingers playing the keyboard.😀

Thanks! And indeed I often try to add value other than the module demos alone. Good to hear cats are interested to :)

Great video with again loads of inspiring ideas! Putting effects in the chain before the filters open various possibilities of fx chaining without overwhelming the sound - but really shaping it very uniquely! I literally have to hold myself away from the buy button now 😂…

This a great video! I am still a bit new to modular (Since January) and I am starting with your basic patch setup. I am running my oscillator into a ENV/VCA combo, then sending the signal to the mult, which then goes left to the delay and right into the filter and the output to the mix. I have my sequencer triggering the gate on the ENV/VCA and not the filter. My question is, based on the first two patches you shared, should I be skipping the VCA and using the sequencer instead to trigger an ENV that is controlling the filter cutoff?
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
You can do as you like! :) A lot of 'simple' synths have a single envelope controlling both the Filter and VCA. Bigger synths often have separate envelopes for the Filter and VCA. You can experiment with patching the filter before or after the ENV/VCA combo, etc. I often use a simple envelope on the filter only. Keeps the patches clean, and sounds good as well. But in a track you might want to use an envelope to the VCA as well as the filter, this helps to control the low end and volume of the sound best!

Yeah! I got back into lego a while ago, really nice for some relaxing and off-screen time! That made me put effort in recovering some oldschool stuff I still had with my parents. That is the forestmen set from my childhood - 6077

Mm, there are centre/side tricks, too, I should think, if you have what's needed to get A±fx(A).
@scottadams7820 Жыл бұрын
What's this math problem, brother? You've piqued my interest.
@stephenspackman5573 Жыл бұрын
@@scottadams7820 So I'd use a Shakmat SUMDIF, which I have and which makes this easy to describe, but anything that takes A and B and produces A+B and A-B outs will do-a through zero mixer or (IIRC) a Disting's adder algorithm. With a mono VCO you mult it into any effect/filter/VCA/whatever you like, then take the raw VCO output into the SUMDIF's C input and the effect output (maybe attenuated) into the D input; the C+D and C-D outs become the downstream L and R, into the stereo filter. With a stereo VCO instead you can use L into C and R into effects into D, or you can run through top half of the SUMDIF, L into A, R into B, and use one of A+B and A-B as the dry side and the other as the wet. Either way, you've effectively gone to a mid/side encoding and used the effect as an insert in the _side_ channel, before switching back to a left/right encoding. You get broadly similar results, except they're (anti)symmetric rather than having the dry sound over on one side. Though blah blah phase cancellation blah blah saturation blah so your mileage will of course vary. Anyway, the left channel is ultimately A+fx(A) and the right A-fx(A), which is what I meant by the code :). Did that make any sense?

The jack placement on the Zagreb seems odd. You have jacks directly above and below the main cutoff knob... seems very un-ergonomic, which is a shame, as it looks great other than that.
@MonotrailTechTalk10 ай бұрын
As you can probably tell from my setup, I love Xaoc, really enjoy Zagreb as well, but have to agree. Wish they'd just putt all the jacks on the bottom. Sounds great though :)
