That's great. I’ve been following you for a long time and when you start talking about taxes, I get lost because that’s really not my area. My thoughts are like a tornado, full of data that I don’t know where to put them. And that's me, confused me, silly me, student me. And you're the one helping me through this data delusion. You are teaching me step by step. You are The savior! Thank you! ♥️

It's very admirable of you to admit that you didn't do your research / benchmark your idea or intent. A lot of other creators might have been inclined to blame the result on everything and everybody else but themselves. P.S. Don't worry about talking too fast I figured out early on to change the viewing speed. Works just fine for me. SMILE. Using teachable sounds a lot like playing poker: the 'House' takes its % right off the top immediately then, sells you or gives back to you the rest of what's left. Upfront costs are: a loss of 10% to the 'House' + another 20% (give or take) just for taxes, alone. Before you've made any real profit 30% is gone right out of the window.

Sandra, I just don't understand how Pinterest works. #Heart
@SandraDi4 жыл бұрын
@@AdventuresInWetShaving I know it's super confusing at first. It took me some time but after I got the hang of it, it drives most of my traffic. I would suggest creating a business account on pinterest (totally free) and do some keyword research for your pins (for your title and descriptions). You can do keyword research just by using the search bar! Also vertical pins perform best. There's so many tutorials on them which I'll be sharing as well to help people. I believe Cathrin has some good tutorials too! :)

I love this video... Do you think courses in general only work for B2B niches? My niche is on Celebrity Gossip? Not sure how I could find a correlated course niche lol
@CathrinManning5 жыл бұрын
Hmm that’s a great question! I personally think that everyone has a skill set that someone else could possibly want to learn. So let’s say someone wants to learn to paint but doesn’t have time to attend an in person class. There may be an online course that could help them learn at home while their kid takes a nap! So I don’t think that courses are just for B2B necessarily. You just need to understand your audience and what they might want to learn from you.

Hey Cathrin, what about selling ebook without any audience and using only influencer marketing or Fb ads??
@rebeccaspianokeys93225 жыл бұрын
I'm working on an eBook and looking into platforms for how to actually sell it. It never would have occurred to me to sell it on a course platform like Teachable. Most bloggers I've come across use or recommend SendOwl. Have you looked into SendOwl for any of your products that aren't actually courses (ie, the eBook and the Lightroom presets)? I'm wondering if that would price out better for you, since I don't think SendOwl charges you any percentage of your sales, I think they only charge a flat monthly fee for their service.

Oh the amount of work solopreneurs have to do, it never stops growing. I'm finding it hard to engage my audience even in simple polls. A KZbin audience of 1500 and poll responses of 15-20. Not really enough to go on to give confidence in choosing one product to make over another. Do you recommend I wait before I create something?
@CathrinManning5 жыл бұрын
I would wait until you have the audience and you know exactly what they are willing to buy! That way you don’t waste your time and you can end up making more money!

Hustler doesn't need a 't" anyway. Is there anyone out there using Teachable from abroad? I took a class on Teachable and they charged 20 %VAT (I'm in Austria). As a self-employed teacher, I don't actually charge VAT, but I wonder if my clients would have to pay it.

@englishwithmiranda3 жыл бұрын
I agree, especially since she brings in her own clients, right? I guess a small percentage is fair if Teachable helps market and advertise her courses, but I don't know if they do. Udemy takes 50% if the customer found you on Udemy, but not if you acquire them elsewhere.

Why don't you sell your courses on your own website instead? Cut out the middle-man. You got the traffic and the influence to lead enough buyers to your own homepage. So why don't you do it?
@CathrinManning5 жыл бұрын
It’s very costly to do it that way! To start, you need a site that can hold more data with all the videos you plan to upload, then you need a platform or something to organize the content and since I’m not a website designer or someone that’s great with websites I would have had to hire someone to do it. In all, the cost turned me away and I love the ease of Teachable
