Same here! Now I see that creating proxies is the single most important thing to reduce lag in Premiere. It's a night and day difference.

Definitely download media encoder - I believe it comes with your subscription. Sadly you do need it to make proxies..

Thanks for the quick tutorial. For whatever reason, ME loads but Premiere is stuck "Creating Proxy Jobs" (bar never fills). Trying to create proxies for avc video. Any advice?

Hmmm have you tried doing a few clips at a time instead of all of them? Other 2 things I’d check - make sure your software is up to date, and make sure your computer has enough storage to run smoothly. It might be stopping and running slow due to these..
