So empowering to know that we actually can manage our emotions and relationships through genuine and honest communication rather than trying to impose specific behaviours on the people we love. Or demanding certain behaviours as the 'admission price' to our hearts. So contrary to the way culture - and often family - have teach and condition us. Thank you for this powerful conversation. Yes,it is witchcraft.I experience it with people who are highly entitled and determined to get what they want at any expense.Having two siblings with Mental health issues it is a constant battle to hold good boundaries.As I love them dearly it makes this very challenging all the time. Constant demands,and unlike "healthy"people,it never stops. Thank God I have a very strong prayer life.❤

Can you do this type of connection and communication even if it’s one sided and they are in “fight” mode. I find mirroring back what my husband is saying can still irritate him because he is so used to “fighting” instead of “communicating” and so being understood is unfamiliar and he resists it. Is that a thing for others?

Love Danny and his books, they’ve been so helpful, especially being powerful over our selves. How does it work in a mother daughter scenario when I am constantly accused in spite of loving unconditionally? By the way she is 43 and an excellent mother of three boys….
