In this case you must perform 1 more step. Type Chrome in the search box, right-click and choose Open File location at the bottom. In the window that opens you'll see a tab at the top that says Shortcut Tools. Click it and then click on the button (Open Location) neat the top. Now you can right-click and send a shortcut to the Desktop. Hope this helps!

I'm confused as to what youa re trying to do. This procedure is used to create shortcuts on the desktop for standard Windows applications. The Netflix App is on the Metro (Tiled) side of Win 8 and you run it from there. You run Netflix on the desktop through Internet Explorer. Fot that you can right-click on the webpage and select Create Shortcut. Hope this helps.

Open Internet Explorer on the Destop side and go to skype.com. In the "choose another version" section of the page get the Windows desktop version. Once it is installed you can follow the video. Good luck!

by the way do you know how to get rid of a screen that has no x in the upper right corner. from the start menu if I click on "message" or "people" the screen is full size and I can't get rid of it. even when I hit escape.

You need the Skype for Desktop application installed on the Desktop side of Windows 8. Then it should work as shown in the video. This doesn't work for the Skype app on the Metro (tiled) side of Win8. Thanks for commenting and I hope this helps.
