As you may know from my social media pages I love panelling! I wanted my dressing room to look more feminine and a slat wall was a must. We created our DIY slat wall for a very cheap price. The panels come in packs of 10 for £26 (pre cut)! What a bargain! Budget panelling all the way.
This is really easy to do and is perfect for beginners as well as more established DIYers.

Great video, the panelling looks great. I’m part way through doing this myself, I purchased the wood from b&q and had a bit of an issue with some of the wooden slats not being straight but nothing a few more nails didn’t sort out. Also I found a laser level helped speed things up a bit. Great video

Hey. Thanks for commenting. That’s what we found; we needed a few nails to sort out some of the uneven ones. I’m thinking of getting a laser level, would you recommend one?

@@our_home_style_ Yes definitely, I did some mdf wall panelling in one of our bedrooms, I only bought a cheap(ish) one from screw fix I think it was a magnuson one that had horizontal and vertical lines on and a Stanley laser level pole and it worked great. It’ll work and speed things up for tiling also.

Hi, can I ask, did you nail the panels on to a dry wall? - thinking of doing something very similar just wondering if nails work fine or would screws be better?

I love this! You guys did a great job :) How did you attach the mirror? Did you attach it to one of the panels or the actual wall behind it?

Thank you so much. The mirror is attached to the wall behind with a long screw in between one of the gaps.

Great work!! your panels in your video look a bit wider (>38mm) than the one you pointed Wicks website. are you sure it's Wickes Sawn Kiln Dried - 19 x 38 x 2400mm? Could you please confirm?

Is there a way to hide the pin holes? I’m going to attempt this in my living room, but worried the pins will be noticeable. Thanks

Hi looks great What type of nails did you use to attach the panels to the walls?
@our_home_style_

Hey, nothing special just some thin, small headed nails so they were easier to disguise when painting them.

Would you recommend treating the wood panels or is it fine just to paint like you did?
@our_home_style_
@our_home_style_ Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t need treating but after doing this project a few times I would recommend lightly sanding it once it’s up before painting

Hi sorry for the delay in replying, yes we used the same paint for both and it covered the wood really well.

Hi, sorry for the delay in replying to you. We’ve paired it with creams, I would say it’s more cream than grey.

Did you need to sand the wood?
@our_home_style_
@our_home_style_ 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, we have used this twice and painted it both times. I’d say if you’re painting it a darker colour then there is no need to sand but if you are leaving it natural or painting a light colour then sand it because it’s a bit rustic looking
