Thank you so much Andy. I was wondering if we can use the same Column and Row Divider formula with the Sample Super Store data set for Sub-Categories.

Yes you can

It might make for longer videos, but it would be cool if you could go through the process as more of a 'problem and solution' type system, where you slowly build the final view and solve problems as you encounter them. For example with the row divider, you could have not wrapped it in an INT at all and then figured that out as you went along. I feel this would better mimic the trial and error learning process most people employ with Tableau and help develop problem solving skills within the Tableau environment. Longer videos are OK I think since most people would be using Tableau to learn for their profession and wouldn't mind watching a longer video. Just a thought. :)

+Luke Beacon true, but then the videos would take too long.

Great video! How do you get the candidate names to appear at the top center of each pane?

+Alex Smith I do it via a calculation that I place on the secondary axis. You can download the workbook from my blog to see how I did it. vizwiz.blogspot.com/2016/03/tableau-tip-tuesday-how-to-create-small.html

Hi Andy, could you elaborate on this? In your workbook I can see a calculated field of "Candidate to Show", however I couldn't figure out how to place the label at top center using the same calculations. thanks.!

First, download the workbook from my blog to see how I did it. vizwiz.blogspot.com/2016/03/tableau-tip-tuesday-how-to-create-small.html Look at the Max Rating Offset calculation that's on the secondary axis, then go to that field on the marks card and you'll see how I set the label up.

This is a great video, although, you should add a part two where you show the secondary axis.

Hey Andy: I am also in need of much similar charts and your tutorial really helped me a lot to ahcieve 90% of my requirement. I have a situation where I need to display the TOP 20 stores YTM ( Year to Month/Date ) sales volumes and also display them in descending order of sales volumes based on latest months data. I have created a Store Rank for each month that gives a Rank to the store based on the sales volume and I have Month Start Date as Columns, Sales Volumes as Rows and Store Names as Level Of Detail. I created a sort field with calculation as below IF ({ FIXED [Store Name] : MAX([Store Rank]) } = [Store Rank]) AND ( { FIXED [Store Name] : MAX([Month Start Date]) } = [Month Start Date] ) THEN [Store Rank] END I have tried to Store Rank as the sort field but it didn't give me the desired result, Also, I don't know what aggregation I need to use in the sort field. I just selected Median but didn't give the desired output. Any help on this is much appreciated.

Any way to realize independent axis for each small charts, if they are on different scale? Huge thanks!

Jiayin Zhao not in this types of design. You would need to create a separate chart for each block. But that then defeats the purpose of this chart type. You want to be able to see the size differences for relative comparison purposes.

@@vizwiz try normalizing the data -> norm_value = (value - min_value) / (max_value - min_value) ... this will work for the chart only, use another field to show the actual value
@vizwiz
@vizwiz 2 жыл бұрын
@@joseherrera9690 yes, that would definitely work. I wanted to keep the comparisons across the charts. Good idea for JY’s question!!

Thanks a lot for this! I'm looking for a way to build a trellis / panel chart based on [Measure Names] instead of a single measure. In other words, each panel should reflect the evolution in time for a different measure selected through Measure Values filter. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hello Andy, great video! I managed to replicate your viz with my data but in my viz I want to add another line for comparison with each other cell (for example, adding the Trump trend to to the cells from Cruz, Rubio, etc) and at the same time not to include the individual cell corresponding to Trump. I'm not sure if explained myself. Is it possible to do this? Thanks for your tutorials!

This is a great video! Really helpful. However, I ran into a glitch. For my chart, Dept ID was the variable I was using instead of Candidate. When I tried to select "dept ID" for the "compute using" for column divider and row divider the "dept ID" variable was not in the list for either of my calculated fields. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just pull the candidate or any filed that you want to the label text and it shows the title for each chart.
