Louise, this watercolor is so gorgeous! I love the colors in this and this is one of the reasons I love watercolor art so much! I love what you did with the brick, too. The ink you used with the spray bottle created beautiful textures and made the brick work look quite authentic. The blooms on the door and ground were so pretty and effective. It’s all just so masterfully done. Congratulations on your piece and on how well you taught us about texture! I am moving into more mixed-media as well, and straying a bit from being a purist in my watercolors. I've been adding inks, sometimes acrylic inks, to my watercolors with smashing results. Great lesson in texture. I'm actually painting a beautiful door on a stucco building, although in acrylic...but I think I'll be able to incorporate some of these into it to highlight the door!

Again, this is great timing, Louise. I took a photograph of an old brick wall with an old pumping tap attached to it in a little country town in France a few years ago.
