Not even kidding but after watching this video I stepped away from about a week of pulling my hair out trying to build my portfolio in a really overcomplicated way. I signed up for Wix and spent about 2 hours total building my portfolio EXACTLY how I designed on Figma, and wow..... *sigh of relief*. Big Thanks, Christine! 🥳

Hello...i am jst starting to learn abt UX designing thro utube videos...n im a bit confuse now on which tool shld i use as many utubers talk abt figma bt wix looked a little easier...can u tell me wats the difference bet figma n wix...also is it tht we cant make portfolios on figma n thts y wix is used? also wat does it means wen she says bootcamp?! if u can help wid these would help a lot..thanks:)

@rachaelmolene 2 жыл бұрын
@@minakshinegi3109 hiii. I think people don't really use figma to design their portfolio because of lack of responsiveness I guess. Anybody checking your portfolio might not be able to view it on a mobile phone or even on their laptop if the portfolio is on figma. Also a bootcamp is like a training, a semi-school where people can go learn about design or programming for a few months. It's pretty expensive though.

@@marlenmonter7523 It's okay, I don't mind answering. 💫 So far I'm loving it. I'm about to complete course 1 (there are a total of 7 courses). I was a bit nervous at first since I'm in the IT field and decided I'm not interested in the industry so I had no idea where to start in UX. I think its a pretty smooth career transition. You'll get the chance to create a portfolio as they give you tips on creating your personal brand and good portfolio, and you'll complete three projects to put into your portfolio. I also saw they give tips on networking and tips on creating an entry level UX resume. The schedule is very flexible and you go in your pace. Assignments/Quizzes are super easy and straightforward. I say go for it! It's on Coursera and it's $39 a month (plus tax its $41 for me).

This was dope. I just interviewed for a UX Design 6 month project at Google because I want to switch career paths from technical to design. I got it! I'm so excited. I am currently a data center technician at Google. I'm also taking the UX Coursera Design Course. I have three degrees that are not design-relevant. But, I did start out in graphic design and just freelanced, later. Sadly, I already paid for Squarespace. I just haven't built it out, yet.

Your content is so good. As someone with a good amount of visual design skills, moderate figma/xd skills, and social and marketing experience (just like you!), but no traditional bootcamp/course or work experience, you literally have given me the confidence to pursue this career. Your videos have the perfect information and have filled all of the gaps in my confidence that I've been questioning. Our previous careers and experience line up which makes it super relatable for me :). I've designed passion project websites in the past, but never for actual work. One day I joined one of those Live Adobe XD daily challenges and participated in a few weeks of classes amongst thousands of other students and my designs were repeatedly shouted out time after time in the top 3 for each project. I had some life changes after that and put learning product design on the back burner, not thinking I'm made for this career. I keep thinking I'm not capable of this career, but you keep reminding me that I am.

Great video! I was wondering how you are supposed to provide the results/effect of your project if you haven’t worked on real projects or with other people? Like if I am designing my own app, and hence not really solving a problem on an existing app, how would I narrate the results of this project? Or if I redesigned something how would I measure the effect and have infographics if I’m not really putting the app out there? Thank you!
@rishika_gupta22
@rishika_gupta22 2 жыл бұрын
You can emphasise on why you chose to redesign an existing app and how it made the UI and or UX better. As for designing your own app, you can put emphasis on why you designed that app, what's the motive and how it will help the users (depending on the niche). There's definitely more to put in there, I recommend you check out portfolios of other designers, or even the mock-ups of other designers on platforms like Behance and Dribbble.
