Welcome back to the second stage in creating a bonsai from scratch.
📹 Check out part 1: • How to create your own...
🌳 In this second stage, we delve into the intricate details of transitioning your bonsai from a cutting to a juvenile tree.
I am repotting the tree intro a second stage bonsai substrate mix, from the initial potting mix made from perlite and peat moss in order to encourage the cutting to grow the first roots.

🌱 Topics Explored:
Bonsai Soil Essentials: In the first stage, our primary concern is to encourage root development.
We use a unique rooting substrate mix, combining perlite and horticultural peat, to foster new roots. As the cutting grows, it transitions from a mere cutting to a juvenile tree in a pot.
Transitioning to Stage 2: Now, we focus on replanting the tree using a higher quality and more aerated bonsai substrate mix.
This transition allows us to strike the right balance between air and oxygen at the root, fostering stability and the growth of mature roots.
Particularly with ficus varieties, known for their thick growth, the choice of substrate is crucial for optimal branching.
Ficus Bonsai: I warmly recommend experimenting with ficuses, especially if you're interested in creating captivating indoor bonsai. Ficus benjamina, in particular, is both permissive and difficult to kill as a bonsai. Its rapid growth at both the root and crown levels makes it an ideal choice for enthusiasts.
