****Update**** In the commands text document lines 60, 63, 65, 67, and 75 have been updated. Note the [****Update****] sections you can run instead to not have to use the GUI and web browser at this point. I'm leaving the old commands in as a just in case. CMake needs to be force upgraded above version 3.18 now! See my text document on how to do that in the description. If you don't you will get this error in CMake: CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake-3.18/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:246 (message): Unknown keywords given to FIND_PACKAGE_HANDLE_STANDARD_ARGS(): "HANDLE_VERSION_RANGE" Call Stack (most recent call first): cmake/macros/FindOpenSSL.cmake:594 (find_package_handle_standard_args) dep/openssl/CMakeLists.txt:14 (find_package) I quickly showed the "server shutdown 1" command in the worldserver. In case you are wondering what that's doing it's gracefully shutting the world server down in 1 second. You can set it to to as many seconds as you like. If you set it to say 900 seconds then you would see in the game chat window "World shutting down in 15 minutes" or something along those lines.

If anyone is following the tutorial with the updates and still getting errors during the "sudo make -j $(nproc)" phase, it is very RAM hungry. You may need to bump up the RAM significantly.

Thanks a lot for the guide, unfortunately I wasn't able to login. Bnetserver and Worldserver run good but "You have been disconnected from the server", tried with the normal and patched 4.3.4 client (64bit), also tried disabling firewall and it doesn't log. Thanks for the quality of content

Hmmm, did you try the "new" hot patch client method instead of moving the modules manually in and all that good stuff?

if you sign in multiple times does it give the same error? every time i connec, 1st logon is booted, 2nd time works. on rare occasion need to try a 3rd. just in case you haven't!

So it has scripts that run on the first start up that auto build a whole bunch of stuff. It takes longer to crunch on the first startup.

Thank you very much for the video, it's amazingly clear. I am trying to set a server up with your video but on 4.4.0 with the TrinityCore/TrinityCore GitHub. I wonder what differs with the video, on top of the base github repo cloned. I am guessing the TDB and the data folder. The TDB for 4.4.0 is released on GitHub, but do you know where I can find the right data folder? And do you think anything else should differ? I've been trying to figure out if 4.4.0 has hit a stable state yet. I know they're working on it but last I heard it was not stable yet.

Since I don't care about the minor differences between the original retail cataclysm and the classic one (like void storage, transmog etc) I could just do a "retail" 4.3 server, which would include Firelands and Hour of Twilight, to train. Do you know good sources for that?

I followed everything and ran into an issue where my client was unable to connect to the server. I allowed 1119 1118 8085 and 3724 in ufw, but I'm still unable to connect. I decided to disable the firewall for additional troubleshooting. I still can't connect, I wonder if there was a networking step I missed. I looked at the hosts file, but was unsure if I had to do anything there. My SQL database is configured correctly and gave it the server ip. Still unable to connect.

@@Digital-Scriptorium I downloaded the trinity core executable and ran it as administrator. It automatically opened the game and was still having issues. I did make modifications to the realm list file in enUS and in the wtf file.

@@Digital-Scriptorium Update: I was able to get a fresh copy of cataclysm. I tried the patching system and still unable to connect. There has to be something wrong with the server files... Is there another project I could try? It appears that I am not the only person reporting this issue.

@@brennanmccloskey8868 usually a fresh client and patched to work with the project does the trick. It might be worth checking out the discord page for the project as well.

@@Digital-Scriptorium Update: I was able to connect to the server. It appears the core server was configured... You are right about the client. I went to the discord and the problem was that the client CDN was targeting a server that no longer exists. The WoW.mfil file had incorrect information and had to be set to readonly.

Really great tutorial! I tried (and failed) to get this working with the docker version, but after following this guide I just set this up as a service without docker. However I seem to have a problem with the game client because after logging in, it downloads something and then tells me to restart the game to apply a patch. It seems that the client is connecting to the official servers even though I changed the config.wtf and realmlist.wtf files to point to my own machine. Do you have any advice? Is there something wrong with my game client?

That is a good question! It does work though. Since it's part of the TrinityCore project just about everything about it matches the Linux side for their guides.
