here's my attempt at putting it into a written pattern with crochet terminology (ive only been crocheting for a few months sorry): st, stitch sc, single crochet ch, chain inc, increase, 2 sc in one stitch dec, decrease, stitch 2st together *although i think you can also skip stitches, but idk how to do that properly* rice body: 1: make a slip knot and ch7 2: starting from 2nd st from the hook, sc6, ch1 3: start working around in an oval shape: inc 1 into the middle of the two stitches--as in the video, inc1, sc5, inc2, sc4. total: 17st 4: inc2, sc6, inc3, sc6 total: 22st 5: inc3, sc8, inc3, sc8 total: 28st 6: inc4, sc10, inc4, sc10 total: 36st 7-8: sc36 (2 rows) *when i made this i made 4 rows i just think it looked better* (by the time it came to decreasing i was kind of just improvising, since i'm unfamiliar with making oval shapes) 9: [sc4, dec1]x6 total: 30st 10: [sc3, dec1]x6 total: 24st 11: dec3, sc6, dec3, sc6 total: 18 12: dec3, sc3, dec3, sc3 total: 12 13: dec3, sc2, dec3, sc2 total: 6 sew closed let me know if i should change anything :)

Thank you for this!! I was trying to follow the video but I was getting confused. I’m going to start again using your written pattern, I’ll let you know how it goes!

is inc 2 means 3 sc in one stich or increase 2 stich so it would be 4 stich?
@krochetbykels5 ай бұрын
Thank you for writing this out. Her wording is very hard to understand and she doesn't really give you a pattern just tells you to go in circles making an oval randomly increasing on ends lol. I had to stop watching .. then I saw your comment so thank you!!

This video was actually the first video I ever watched that inspired me to start crocheting. It was very hard for me because of the incorrect terminology in the video, but I still remember this video when I think about how I got into crocheting and how I now love to crochet for the past 4 years❤️🥰 I’ve always admired your work and think they’re adorable, keep up the good work!

I have been crocheting for long time now and never have I heard the single crochet be referred to as knots but I think that is a semi easier way of saying it X3 , love the tutorial
@hectoritoj977 жыл бұрын
"about 7 times", "about 4 rows", "several loops", "knots"... nice idea but that kind of instructions don't work for me , the pattern needs to be precise in order to have a specific size and number of stitches for those of us who just started making amigurumis, not my first time doing crochet tho, but it'd be really helpful if you used the standard terminology and a specific number of stitches and rows.
@rachaelleverette65995 жыл бұрын
I can understand what you mean. When I heard it, I just assumed she meant "do this 7 times" or "do this 4 rows." But I think I only assumed this because where I live it's very common to say about when it's not needed.

I have tried crocheting MANY times in my life. My mother crochets and has tried teaching me several times and I've tried on my own. I still want to continue trying so I can actually become good at it, but it's always been a struggle for me. I'm not sure why, but it's one of the few mediums of art I am unable to master. Watching your videos makes me want to try again though. I absolutely love these little sushi plushies. They're adorable and as difficult as it is for me to do, they look actually pretty simple to make. Of course, that may also just be because you're so experienced that it looks easy...lol. Btw, I'm a new subscriber. The Lucky Cat video from the baby socks is what got me...lol.

Hey, it might be that your just not ment to crochet. The first day i got it right away my sister didn't. She has always struggled. So maybe you and crocheting are not ment to be
@MommaMiri10 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that. I just try over and over again, but after so long I just give up. I've just never had the persistence to keep at it. It's been at least a decade in a half since I tried last. Maybe as an adult, I'll be more willing to stick with it...lol.

Some people are just born to do certain things. You have the knack for it. I have a knack for many things...Crocheting isn't one of them, but that doesn't mean I can't obtain a knack for it. Just need some time to sit down and do it. Might try again, when I actually have time to do something again... ^_^ Also, it's freaking awesome that you're so young and can do this so well. Love your work... ^_^

This is just adorable! Thanks for taking the time to film this video, don't worry! It must've been hard to explain as it's more of a "if you get it then you can race ahead" hobby. When I crochet, my piece always starts to curl up, more quickly than it should do. Perhaps you could make a video dedicated to it, it's stopping me from my pieces going correctly!

These are so adorable!! However, I am currently trying to make some and the way that you show how to do your oval is not clear at all. That may be just me but, i feel as though you are skipping some important steps. Like, in the first three rows, does every stitch (or knot, like you say) get 2 stitches> Because that doesnt seem to be working for me. Also, how many stitches go in each curved side? Is it two or four? Anyway, These are adorable and I really hope to figure them out!! Thanks for the video!
@ayanohattori65029 жыл бұрын
She's skipping the part of the foundation chain or how many chains you should include and how you can get the form of the rice.
@Brienna829 жыл бұрын
Tausha Laakman From my personal experience making ovals you only increase by making 2 single crochets at the "corner" stitches. so lets say you have 6 stitches on each side of the project (12 total around the oval shape). you first chain one (counts as 1 sc) and then make another sc into the same stitch as you chained one, then do a single crochet in each of the following 4 stitches, and when you get to the 6th stitch you make another increase with 2 sc into the same stitch. Then you round the corner by repeating the process but of course instead of chaining one you start with 2sc in the first stitch, 1 sc per stitch in the following 4, and then again 2sc in the final stitch. so your total stitch count has increased from 12 to 16. for the next round it would look like this: increase in first stitch, 1 sc in the next 6 stitches, increase in 8th stitch, (rounding the corner) increase in next stitch, 1sc in next 6 stitches, increase in 16th stitch. TLDR: Always begin and end each side of the oval with an increase, just do 1sc in the rest.
