How to crochet girl’s sweater cardigan 6-12 yrs with Crystal Waves Stitch by Crochet for Baby

Hello 👋 my name is Sara welcome to my channel Crochet for Baby. In today's tutorial I will show you how to crochet this easy crystal Waves crochet cardigan style sweater for girl’s between 8-10 years old but can be made smaller or bigger from 6-12 years as I explain how to in the video.
For this 8-10 years size crochet child sweater tutorial I used Red Heart Bunches of Hugs #4 yarn with a 5.5mm crochet hook. I used about 400 grams of yarn. For smaller sizes you may need about 300 grams and for bigger sizes you may need 550 grams of yarn.

Hi thank you for your video....there is some confusion in number of stitches...in 14th row it is coming to 200 stitches not 184....if we start with 99+3 and 1st row comes to 96 there after 8stitches increase in every row....row 1 96 Row 2, 96+8=104 Row3, 104+8=112 Row4, 112+8= 120 Row5, 120+8=128 Row6, 128+8= 136 Row7, 136+8=144 Row8, 144+8=152 Row9, 152+8=160 Row10,160+8=168 Row11, 168+8=176 Row12, 176+8=184 Row13, 184+8=192 Row14, 192+8=200 Kindly check and advice how to go about rest of the project thank you for your time and support...

Thank you for teaching it is very smooth and easy to follow BUT some how I must have done something wrong. Makeiing it for a 6 yr old so used 5.00 hook have Caron simply soft #4 yarn stiches add up But it measures 9 inches from top to bottom And looks very large. I have 14 rows so I am not sure what happened can you help??

Do you have a video on how to calculate the number of starting chains for different sizes for the yoke..ie baby, child, adult? You have a lot of nice patterns that I like and would like to make for my 2 or 4 year old grand daughters, some my 9 year old grand daughter would like to make for herself (she's made 2 of your dresses for her step sister who is 7 months old), if I go up too many hook sizes it doesn't work out well. Hello Mam... This tutorial is so good. I tried making for my 8 years old daughter. Same steps, Starting chain (99 chains) yarn size(Caron Jumbo Yarn size 4) and crochet hook(5.5) I used. it came out very big. How should I do to fix this?

I did the same, arm holes are huge, too many rows in the yoke, I normally do eleven row's for the yoke.

Hi. I don't know if it is too late for you. If I were you try crochet your cardigan with Double Knit wool and using a size 5 hook. I am crocheting for my 6 years old granddaughter using Double Knit wool and a size 4.5 hook and seems to be the right size.

If you use thicker yarn then the size will definitely change. If you have to use that yarn weight I’d definitely go down a full hook size and just make it exactly like this tutorial.

Hmm 🤔 you could try with a 2.75mm hook or 3mm and baby yarn to see if it comes out smaller. Not sure though. If others request a smaller size I can make it but I’m currently working on another newborn baby sweater that I think you will like too 😉 it will be ready soon.

No. If the hook is 3mm which is what I think you meant it’s going to be very hard to use with a medium yarn. You can try with baby yarn #3 and a 4 or 4.5mm hook but try the yoke first to make sure it will fit.
