Thank you for such a well made tutorial. I am new to arigurumi however your tutorial helped me produce a toy that is just perfect! I used a 3.5 which made a giraffe about 7-9 inches tall, all in 100% cotton. I used wooden 1/2 inch beads in each foot for teething (no stuffing), continued to top of head before stuffing, then used my new favorite fill, a bath poof, which washes & dries easier with no chance of moist spots, mold producing areas, and remains fluffy (or firm if you stuff firmer) without clumping after washing like fiberfill. Wash puff, cut the puff apart at center string, fold in half, use a chop stick to push down through neck into body then stuff head with remainder (neck will also not lose its fill after use/washing as with fiberfill). One white puff stuffed my giraffe perfectly. I then created the nose by filling 1/2 a plastic Easter egg with beads and hot gluing (carefully) to the head. Then securely stitch the crocheted nose over the egg. This produced a rattle! Lastly the antlers have glass marbles which are smaller for her little mouth to chew on, the tail was left unstuffed as with the ears. She is 2 .5 months old and has as yet shown no interest in any toy handed to her however now this giraffe produces smiles and her arms & legs flail each time she sees it. I'm back on this amazing tutorial to make a back-up as all mommies (and Nanas know) are essential with a special toy which this giraffe has instantly become. Can't thank you enough Suwanna for the perfect gift for my grandaughter!

Heads up folks. If you're using safety eyes remember to add them before you close up the head. I now have everything done and am having to try and unpick the head to fix them. 😭 Rookie mistake but it would be helpful to have that included in the tutorial.

Beautiful giraffe. Easy to follow pattern and no problems with it whatsoever. Thank you. I used a 2.50 hook with DK yarn and he measures approx. 8.5" - 9" from tip of horns to feet. Well done. :D

i also buy a heavier yarn in baby wool if i can so its not scratchy, go up to a 5 or 6 mm hook and make them enourmous lol, he has half a jungle atm and im still adding to them and he wont be one until september lol, mind you as soon as i make them my family steal them so i gave up and got people that are not family to send me the wool and a specific pattern if they wanted it done and i would make it for them making sure it includes any eyes they want etc. ive done a giraffe hat for my cousins friend as her nickname is giraffe and it was a face with the horns and some spots with some fancy ear flaps with spots and a mixture of coloured strands of the brown and yellow brushed out and plaited.. i did it for nothing as she is such a great friend of the family that she might as well be.

What a great job of making your video of the giraffe. This was my first amigurumi animal, you made is seem so simple and took your time to explain each step. At times you got your hands too close to the camera and it got blurry, so just a tip, keep your hands close to the table so the view stays clear. Thank you for such a great video and I plan to make more and plan to see more of your videos.

are you using a 2 or 3 mm hook ? i go down to using a 1 mm sometimes and use it to make pram toys for my grandson as i attach them to the basic dummy/ pacifier clip when fully made so he cant loose them. they also hang great on a long double chain sewn in so they can loop over activity frames over play mats

Hello, I’m extremely new to crocheting and have never done a project like this before, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Also, is it okay if I use a larger hook and thicker yarn? Will this make the finished product larger? Thanks for any help!
@estermarie27312 жыл бұрын
Larger hook with larger jarn is totally fine, only problem that may acure is that a bigger giraffe could need a bit more detail here and there, for instance eyes
