I've been struggling to crack this stitch today. I was still lost after other instructions and tutorials. Yours finally got through to me! Easily the best one! Thank you!

Love that hook! Where could I find one like this?

What type of hook is that you are using?

You are using a 6mm hook, when Red Heart yarn calls for 5mm. You said that using a larger hook helps to make the Waistcoat Stitch easier to work with? Would it be even better to use a size 7mm hook, so that the stitches are looser? This way the Waistcoat Stitch won't be so dense and difficult to work with?

dense is what ppl want to make warm. so looser if you holes and caps, but coat for warm dense

While I understand why you called it "in the round" to create the border, that explanation doesn't exactly cover making say a Hat in this stitch. Do you have another tutorial that explains how to do it from a magic circle, or from a chain in the round? It's a different technique than a border.
