Thank you for making this video, I've been struggling with this pattern using a different video and it just wasn't working. Your way is so much easier! 💞

This makes the most sense to me of any of the entrelac tutes I've seen. Saw a blanket done with multi colors and Tunisian (my interest) squares on diagonal so found yours to figure out my own.

Hi Ellen, thanks for the tutorial, I have a WIP in my stash to use up yarn I started a while ago, that I was doing as alternating rounds of tss and tpurl diamonds in a rectangle rather than rows, to make a cushion cover. You reminded me that these 2 stitches play well together, the tension is the same but the look of alternating texture blocks is interesting, and I will need to get back to this project which I am working in a finer weight yarn, (so it grows slowly), it might be a good project to dig out for a yarn crafting get together which involve much social chatting, so simple projects are often best. I thought your tutorial explained entrelac construction well. 💙💙

This is great Ellen! I’ve done Entrelac in knitting but never in Tunisian crochet! Fascinating and so pretty! You explain it very clearly! I always add extra chains in a project. Piece of cake to take them out. Not so much if you don’t have enough!😂. One of my favorite tips that my teacher taught me! Thanks for another great tutorial!!🤗🤗

Thank you! I usually don’t like to waste the yarn. Sometimes when I have some change left over I start to worry that I did the foundation row incorrectly. But a correct foundation is essential as you know! Totally worth getting it right.
@theastewart6721
@theastewart6721 4 жыл бұрын
I agree. I do it when I have to make a very long chain. If I can do a foundation row without chains I will do that. I don’t like chaining over 100 stitches. I feel like I’m always counting, lol. And it’s tough on my eyes.

Hi. I was trying to do the ten-stitch Tunisian blanket and getting a little confused as to where the stitches should go on the corners. This video is much easier for me and I thought entrelac would be difficult. Really enjoying this process. Thank you and I look forward to more of your videos. Also used "splitting" yarn which added to my frustration!

I’m confused and it’s me lol, when you want to make a blanket, do you chain in the beginning according to the size of the blanket? Or how does it work? I love how you explain everything step by step

This way, yes, you do, but corner to corner is easier.

Yours is the BEST explanation of this stitch/blanket I found, I do have 1 question, I want to make a blanket to fit a double bed, so does that mean I have to have my foundation chain to be the size of the bed?
@EllenGormleyCrochet
@EllenGormleyCrochet Жыл бұрын
Or more! Yes. Make a swatch, see how big it is. Divide the width of a double bed by the number of inches and your swatch. Make sure you have plenty of extra inches for the coverlet to hang over both side edges and that will give you an approximation of how many swatches wide you’re finished blanket needs to be.

Hello. I’m just learning Tunisian crochet, found this tutorial and love it❤ I’m a little confused about the total number of chains on your hook, it’s more than 11+1. Am I missing something.
@EllenGormleyCrochet
@EllenGormleyCrochet Жыл бұрын
11+1 is the base number that you need for each repeat of the pattern. That way you can make the project any size you want by using a factor of 11 and adding 1. :)

I have a question...Can I make alternating diamonds with bernat pipsqueak and bernat lollipop sparkle they are listed as chunky and light respectively but feel like they might work together. thoughts?
@EllenGormleyCrochet
@EllenGormleyCrochet 3 жыл бұрын
Try it! I don’t know those yarns off the top of my head. Two different weights will likely make a wavy and puckered fabric.

@@EllenGormleyCrochet I'm currently making a little sample just to see how it works. Visually the pipsqueak look chunkier but in the fingers they feel very similar, I'm hopeful cause I think it will look cute if it does work, the lollipop sparkle is white and the pipsqueak is pastel variegated...got eight months for this amateur to knock out a baby blanket, lol!

Yeah no, textures did not play well together. Did not even get enough stitches to tell if the weight would have worked.

How many chains would I do to make baby blanket
@EllenGormleyCrochet
@EllenGormleyCrochet 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Make your swatch, then measure how big your swatch is. Take that width and measure it times the number of inches you want your final blanket to be. If your swatch takes for example 30 stitches to make 6 inches, and you want your blanket to be 36 inches then you need to multiply 30 stitches times 6+ your beginning turning chain. And that will give you the number of stitches. If you want you can add one stitch to your math because you can always rip out that final chain if you don’t need it.
