I went through yarn last night. Found enough for 4 heads in all different colors. Can't wait to see them (at least once) on all of them. Because the girls' braids can be long and a little heavy, what do you think about adding a light elastic around the rim for a little tighter fit?

That's perfect! I think a light elastic around the rim is a good idea. That way you don't have to worry about the tams stretching out of shape and no longer fitting their heads. You could also attach a cord to the rim. Either way works :)
