Just to emphasize a very important point about gearing in this game that Pal was talking about - do not save stuff for end game. Use the stuff you find. It will make getting through everything so much easier. Use everything the game gives you because rares are actually rare. Check magic items for two good mods and hit them with a regal if they're good. Got a 3rd good mod? Good. Slam an exalt or two on it. Especially weapons.

I've used every piece of currency while salvaging everything through the campaign - I regret it, I crafted NOTHING of value and would be better off having that currency available when entering maps. It's RNG pull and more often than not it will end up useless due to diluted mod pool - it's literally kind of advice "step 1. don't be unlucky". The thing that carried my campaign was dodge roll and abusing broken shit (RIP my sweet sweet gas grenade explosions).

Can You influence what it will get? Nope. Can You reroll the item? Nope, wait till another one drops. Crafting properly starts with essences, and those are pretty rare in campaign.

I’m a new POE player, long time d2 vet. I was struggling with the skill gems. I had NO IDEA you could see all the gems available for each skill! I thought I had to chose one from one of my skills and move it to the skill I wanted it for! That is an absolute game changer man thank you for all these tips! Best tips I’ve gotten so far by a long shot! I stopped playing ranger at like level 8 because I felt like I couldn’t kill things, on my witch I went through the passiventree and aimed for more damage and now im burning through everything! I'm a 40 year old boomer with arthritis, slow wits from age, and chalky bones; but I LOVE this Early Access PoE2. Been playing ARPG's for 20 years and it really has made using mouse and keyboard games very difficult without hand/arm/shoulder stretches etc. And i'm SHOCKED at how many young gamers are getting "filtered" by this game. It's early access, just enjoy the game, give constructive feedback and then reroll a different character and then have fun again! GGG is a well intentioned company (so far) and will listen to you if you have constructive criticism and then change the game. It's early access! I would strongly advise agaist slamming exalts on leveling gear, its such a waste, just going to a trade side and using them to buy premade items from player is so much more efficient. They do not drop like candy but they can buy you power if you trade. And for people struggling with campain this is a much much more efficient way of using them

Didn't find shit during the campaign, might as well remove crafting until endgame. "Stay away from anything that isnt a % damage increase", says a lot about the game in its current state, doesnt it? :/ And i agree 100%. I mean, one node gives you 1% life regen while stationary, while having the downside of -5% MS. What the f is that?! And sadly thats just one of a hundred things that needs improvement asap. Just to name a few others: support skills are boring, confusing and to weak, dodge roll needs s, crafting is almost non existent, the way you aquire ascendancy is awful, most ascenfancy points is bad or boring. Etc etc... But worst of them all is the loot drops. It really needs a huge increase (they did just buff it, i know, but it needs way more).

Great insights, as akways! One question though: It was mentioned that Pathing for Crit is an error, however it wasnt explained in the video why that is. As Im currently playing monk eyeing an invoker build with ele crits later, I'm trying to path through as many crit chance nodes as I can get - should I reskil for the leveing process and respec later when I got good gear, or is this one of the conditional cases mentioned where going for Crit is actually a good idea as it feeds into my lategame build? Unfortunately forgot to add that clip: tldr: On most classes, crit is an endgame stat that doesn't really pay off before you filled out some of your earlier multipliers (%dmg, skill speed). Some exeptions are cold casters/monk, anything that inherently has an advantage scaling crit to begin with.

Great video as always. I hope more new players find videos like this. A few tips: ⬇️ 1. Disenchant gear. 2. Loot/buy bases. 3. Use the currency to try to get a good roll. If not, Disenchant/sell it. Even white items are worth looting as long as it’s a good base for your build. Also, don’t spend higher currency (Regal and above) unless the item already has good stats. Hope this helps a little. ✌🏻

3:44 - I have a 100 phys 20 lightning damage bow. It was my only upgrade since act 1 and felt great going from 30 phys to that. Then I hit end of act 2 into act 3 and it feels like trash. Ive pathed purely to damage nodes. Inc damage, ele damage, lightning damage, lightning pen, extra chain. I have basically every close damage node available and it still feels slow and awful. 4-5 hits for normals alone. Wish the damage was better scaled or upgrades were easier to come by. 13:38 - gambling is a meme dont do it. Ive spent 12k gold gambling for a weapon which is a lot of gold in the campaign. Got around 8 attempts. Best i got was a Magic with dead stats. Wait no that was all of them. Waste of money imo 14:11 - they might be plenty in endgame but trans/augs are ridiculously rare it seems in the campaign. Acts 1-3 ive seen maybe 5-6 raw transmutes and only 9-10 augs. Not really enough for crafting through 3 acts (15 hrs of gameplay)

If yall need gold to respec, then im sure youve already heard that theres a act 1 gold farm strat that turned out to be bait. That being the Forgotten Riches in the Masoleum of the praetor. People did the math that its 200+ gold a run, which is less than the gold you can get from selling 2 rares at a higher level. Well there is in fact at least one gold room in each act that scales up. I can find the Abandoned Shrine in Keth in like 3 minutes and get 500, 600 gold inlcuding the mobs i kill along the way and their magic and rare drops id sell. In act 3 the gold room isnt indicated on the map. You have to go to jiquani's sanctum and there are i think 2 side rooms you unlock with small soul cores that have gold and rare loot spawns. Havent done this run since i fixed my build in act 2, so idk how long itll take to find the side rooms; but if youre going to farm in act 3 might as well have this bonus.

I am liking the game so far, I only wish crafting had a little more options and could be a little more deterministic in some cases. If they could introduce something like cube recipes from D2 that would be a dream, like convert 10 blue currencies to 1 yellow, the chaos orb should let you select which property you want to re-roll like in D4. The blood crafting recipes from D2 were also nice, sometimes niche but a nice plus when you don't have any gloves.

An opinion is not a fact . I did replay act 1 with a reroll as soon as i finished act 1 with my main (warr then monk) . No wonder i did cruise til lachnan (who killed me more as monk surprinsingly) . There i can talk bout the difficulty , and honestly except the fact that monsters can corner you up a bit too easily, thegame is pretty balanced , sure some skill can get a tweak here an there, and some support does not work on all travel skills . Accuracy is a bit problematic on balbala in act 2 fortunately i did get enough to grab resolute tech so after that i did kill here after a hard fight (warrior). Im gonna replay act 2 asap in order to further think bout my feed back . And so on .

In order for crit to work you need good base dmg - otherwise you rely on a % chance to deal comparable dmg.

I guess many people getting the stat wrong. E.g.: A node on tree which gives 20% inc. crit chance is no flat 20% crit chance! Your base weapon will maybe have 5% base crit chance, increasing this by 20% is only 6% crit chance. I guess many players are thinking its 25%. But ofc if you know what you do go crit it will be good with the correct build.

One of the edge cases for "if the tag is on the skill, increased damage for that tag works" that kept stumping MrLlamaSC (extremely experienced D2R specialist streamer/youtube with some PoE1 experience) was LA + conc effect. Game shows conc effect works, and it does... just like it did in PoE1, by modifying ONLY the AoE radius and none of the damage. GGG rewriting the LA skill description to talk about "beams" maybe makes it even more ambiguous than before, since it makes it sound like, say, Divine Ire which does deal AoE damage...

Okay, so not to hate on you, these are all very valuable tipps! I quit the game after 30 hours because I could not progress any more and still enjoy the game. I reworked my tree for 30k gold and found another 20% damage that way. I farmed 8 hours for gear and got nothing to show for it. Not even currency. I know they will patch this, or nerf this. But I was crazy unlucky, I just could not find any gear to improve my build enough to beat the act 3 boss. What even are runes? I had not a single item that was good enough that I would put a rune into it. They already nerfed some things, but for me the game became less and less enjoyable. Even knowing all of the good advice you give, I could not lift my character out of the hole it was in. My strategy is to wait another 2 or 4 weeks and let GGG come to their senses. I get that balancing drops is hard if you want to have a game that feels challenging, but it can't stay like this. And the tree - I mean you pretty much say half the stats are useless for campaign - which yes they are. My problem with the tree is 2 things: One you don't have enough points, you should easily have 10 more points when you leave act 2. Second, there need to be more clusters that solve a problem your gear doesn't solve. At least on the caster side of the tree it is very hard to fix defenses. You don't get resistances, you dont get armor evasion and so on. The only way to go as a caster is flat life and energy shield. Of course there are small exceptions to this, but we are a long shot from poe1 where you have gear and skill points in abundance to fix problems on your build while leveling. So as great as your advice is - you can still get absolutely destroyed by rng and the only fix is to grind harder in a game that hates you.

i think the biggest tip is "dont play melee" unironically i feel like from what ive seen, the usually squishy starting class feels the most tanky, cause % max energy shield is on the tree while life was almost entirely removed. Started as a monk, got soft locked in act 3. The weird Sludge Bath Lady with her fast double body slam just oneshots me.(dodge roll is also useless for this) Rerolled to sorc and im breezing through everything. There is still challenge but it feels WAY more balanced and manageable.

Yes. The +%Physical damage is essentially a multiplier on your weapons base stats. Like if you have 20-30 physical damage on your bow with a +50% physical damage affix on your bow… your effective base damage is 30-45 physical damage. It’s also worth noting that any +x physical damage AFFIX on your bow will also get multiplied by the the +% physical damage modifier… but if you have gloves or something with +x physical damage… this will not be multiplied by the +% physical damage affix on your bow.

MINION ENJOYERS: Minion defenses on the tree are mandatory. I recommend picking up all the revive nodes and anything else that is defensive near them. If you use last breath, your minions will be revived instantly after they die.

mana isnt a bad mod for you, my deadeye doesnt need mana flasks anymore cuz of a few mana mods. i thi k your natural mana regen is percentage based so more mana means you regen more

We have to accept that numbers are lower and as such that number increases mean WAY MORE than we are used to, coming from PoE1. I noticed this on my monk, I started with dmg intake quite a lot until I just turned on my brain, fully moved to evasion gear and now I'm running around with 70% evasion. SOLVING THE PUZZLE is what the current state of the game is about. People who don't participate in this simply won't have any fun and should stay away. Also: thanks for making me drink. That's a whole litre of water in 25 minutes, now I gotta interrupt my gaming and go pee. THAT'S ON YOU DUDE!!!

My big unlock was switching from sorc to monk. I got to lvl 45 on sorc and i did have fun but it was hard and a slog. Monk is a powerhouse comparatively

I dont understand your tips. Always upgrade your gear? With what currency? I've spend all my transmutes/augs/regals, still running around with a level 5 item and blue ring at char level 32. I guess i have to start picking up white items to get gold too?

I'm level 41 still with blue rings. I've found 1 alch so far and haven't found a rare ring on the ground or in a vendor. I get the idea of scarcity, but at the start of early access when everybody is new to the game it feels kinda bad. I want to experiment, but the game makes it hard to do.

I am playing as a witch, up untill accendancy trial, never had any isues at all. After 1st boss, that took me 7 tries, I gow a good combination of spells, and never struggled.

Breaks my heart to see so much hate for this game. Its so good and i love it so much and I even got my dad to play it with me when hed never play poe1. But i guess when theres 1m players between all of the different sources to play its gonna have people that dont like it for a game thats hyped to be a masterpiece and worth every second. I hope enough people stick around to give it a chance. Just gotta go in with a slower more methodical mind set rather than full map clears in less than 1 min

I disagree that the only thing that you need is damage with zero defensive layers. Or where the only ones that matter are the ones that you get from gear like evasion, armor, energy shield, life add resist. Where you must get it all from your gear. I don't think that would be the right thing to do with your points.

At low levels your comments about chaos resistance might be true. In later maps however, you are going to alter your opinion. Chaos resistance becomes so important.
