I think the opponent is just one of these 1/2 players who automatically stacks off whenever they have AA regardless of the runout. Then when they get cracked he complains for the rest of the night about the bad beat.

In Florida $15 is a standard open at 1/2. Aside from the maniacs I’ve seen blind opening to $50, I’ve seen people open as high as $25 with no straddle or limps.

I see stuff like this at 1/2 all the time. Recs will raise to normal sizes until they pick up a premium and then make a huge open to try to force everyone out of the pot pre. When that doesn't work they just keep blasting as if they are invincible and wind up losing it all. Then they complain about how they're super unlucky and never win with big pairs etc. etc. 😭

I play online tournaments in a club with quite a few aggressive players like the villain here. He is just going for Value with aces, not thinking of what is calling except thinking he has kings or queens on the hook and any other hand that might be beating him will be put to a tough decision

On the flop discussion, against this specific player type I really like just flat calling. The multiway dynamic changes things a bit, but if we're heads up I just want the crazy guy to put all the chips in with air. Assigning him a "reasonable range" (over pairs, flush draws, etc) seems like a mistake, he could just have 43 or K5 or A2. It's a tragedy if 72 folds to a min click when he would have piled all the chips in for us anyway.

This was wild! I'm glad it worked out for our hero. But it does illustrate why I hate playing against true maniacs. It's so hard to hand read them. It makes me wonder what would have happened if caller had JJ or QQ. In this case the runout was so dirty maybe he gets away from those hands. Those also might be more likely to be raised by hero pre, but that could be even more trouble. Imagine it's heads up against this kind of maniac on this flop with QQ. The caller could easily have been stacked on this hand since villain did have AA.

I just ignore crazy opponents unless I have the nuts. There is so much variance that it only takes one bad hand for you to think your top pair is good for an all-in just to get stacked by some ridiculous 2 pair.

Idk man, J10 is way up there in aggro players range. When I’m running hot and splashing ramping up my momentum I’m going for heads with J10 in the cut or on the button. In LA card rooms I might go so far as to say that was not a profitable river call longterm in a splashy 💦 game like the caller claims it is. I’ve never played in Texas though so idk 🤷‍♂️

He was not betting the ten or five from the flop so it is either over pair flush or nothing..I would have called this too unless the river was another diamond then I would have probably folded in that case but not on this runout with the way the action went..

Post flop, and UTG bet, I thought the agro player likely had a high pocket pair, and it turns out hero could have shoved on the flop, and got a call. Personally, I would have either raised which would have instigated a 3 bet from UTG, or I would've shoved which would of been called. Either play, and all of the money would have been in pre turn which would have made it much easier on the hero's mindset! 😁😎👍✌🗽

Uh, against competent players a raise there is pretty terrible. You're in position, there's virtually no reason to raise a pot size bet on the flop when you block a fuckload of the value range.
