How to Cure Coon Shrimp for Sockeye and Summer Chinook: Kyle’s 2023 Process

Here is the step by step process on how Kyle is curing his coon shrimp for this years Upper Columbia Summer Sockeye and Chinook. These will be swimming in the Brewster pool soon. This is the entire process.

Shrimp get me excited! Just picked up 3# at the Portland Fishermans Marine last weekend to cure up. They seem a bit smaller than the North 40 ones so I have a feeling I'm gonna be a hero or zero at brewster this year. Thanks for being so open about your techniques.

Probably not, although I haven’t fished that fishery. I use this same process to cure my shrimp for steelhead and it works fantastic. This is just a really good base cure. I add additional things to it depending on the situation, but always In small batches.

Yes, absolutely do, but I add scents at the time of fishing. I will mix small batches with scent, and other things, but I don’t add to the entire jar. Just a few shrimp at a time

Grew up fishing the Clearwater since I was 8 years old my old man and Jimmy dodge got me started bobber fishing the clear water ruined me forever.. I'm now 55 years old.. And have since ruined several none fisherman into buying boats and trucks.. Just to walleye fish and stuff in Washington.. Roosevelt other local lakes took me four years to figure things out up here Spokane area.. Because of you over started the brewester thing.. All the kids are gone. Just me and the wife and some of the family still here.. Trying to figure out if there's some place to camp out down there with the wife's even if it's in a tent but shade.. I'm not getting any younger just trying to it comfortable for the wife's. And little dogs... Not used to not finding a camping spot but I grew up in north Idaho. And now it's becoming that.. And my boat would fly your flag always.. You need a flag that says flyin mr.jones and me.. That would be awesome.. Anyways good luck. On the opener.. Going to do the after work on Friday night sleep in my buddies truck burn back Saturday.. Like I was a teenager...

@@nolebrady8256 that’s fantastic! The camping is a little hard to come by. There is a campground at Beebe bridge park that’s is really good and close to fishing. Also some camping in Bridgeport, Alta lake, and also a few other spots.
