I'm not really in to dolls but my sister was watching this and we decided you can do all of this WITHOUT the boiling water and those other heat products. Just use warm water or kinda hot water and use the bobby pins and straws like this. It will take a while to dry but it will be worth it. It's a lot better than risking to melt your favorite doll's hair and/or face for something as little as this.

+Kitty Gaming Regardless, it's dangerous because you can damage the fibers beyond repair if even the lowest setting. If you INSIST on using a flat iron, at least use a hand towel or wash cloth so you're not directly applying heat to the hair. Or try the boiling method.

This is GREAT! I'm not brave enough to use heat on Monster High hair because it's synthetic and easy to melt, but if you're careful it works wonders. Some advice no one asked for: If you're trying to curl long hair and want a little more control, start by wetting the hair, separating the hair by layers and picking a strand, placing the straw against the scalp and pinning a strand to it, curl the strand all the way down the straw and pin it again at the bottom. That's two pins and one straw for each strand. It takes a lot more time but it's much easier to pick the style and direction you want that way. Letting the strands air-dry before removing the pins gives each curl more body. This works wonders on dolls like Dawn of the Dance Lagoona! Happy customizing, everyone

I tried this on my Lorna doll. But! I dint take the head off and I didn't dip it in boiling water, I just used normal water, and I didn't use a flat iron. And I waited about 5 hours and it dried. I also did one over night with same results. It was perfect. And I just went with the easy method. So this is a kinda "bad" tutorial. No hate...
