I’m wanting to paint my acoustic guitar. It’s all sanded back and ready to be primed and all that good stuff. Is there any other kind of paint I’m able to use when painting? Or is acrylic the most resilient?
@FieldeyTV3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply! I'd do a bit of research and use what you're comfortable painting with. Acrylic is the best for this style of art, but isn't necessarily the most resilient.

You're right about clear coat curing - I just had one burn through during buffing because the underlying coats weren't properly cured. And when the art is custom, that is a serious setback. Tonight I have to strip the entire body, re-sand, Gesso again, sand again and then paint the entire piece again. But the good news is that I get to fix issues with the rendering of the art that I didn't like, so it has some plusses. But yes, I'm going back to a day of curing for each clear coat. Fantastic video!
@FieldeyTV3 жыл бұрын
GAHHH! You poor thing! I hope the process went ok! It's from bitter experience that I'm now very cautious about clear coating and wet and dry sanding :(

Hi and thanks and congratulations for this work and the video ! I was wondering if there is some way to "fade" the brush marks after painting ? is there a way to 'polish' them in order to have something very "flat" ? Btw, what is the "best quality brand" for acrylic paint ? Thanks :)
@FieldeyTV2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply! If you tried to wet sand them to flatten them you would change the look of the painting - I'd use acrylic like Golden Acrylics flow range which is really runny and won't leave any high points
@x-dah-t-er87793 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing I liked the tutorial! Now when you clear coat spray it’s doifferent from the wet sanding technique, which is brush on!!! Ie; layer of gel medium, or midge podge, wetsand, dry repeat I still havn’t successful sheen with that but in da process!

Oh that would be the perfect thing - I would've preferred a 2k clear for that super shiny wet look and durability, but it was beyond the scope of the project.
@DuncanCustomAirbrush4 жыл бұрын
@@FieldeyTV They also make an automotive grade spray can clear that is a 2part with hardner (once you mix it you have to use it all) that has great gloss and protection. I LOVE your style btw, always a fan of your artwork!😉👍

Hi Fieldey.. I like your art work.. I was especially interested in the guitar art. I have had this idea to do an acrylic pour on a guitar... I d9nt really know anything about that kind of thing, so I have been watching KZbin videos to try and get some direction... from best type of paint to use to best clear coat that preferably dries really hard. I would appreciate any tips you are able to afford me. Thank you in advance, and keep making great videos 😊

@micahwatz1148 Жыл бұрын
I like this two part clear coat called 2k clear. It has a hardener in it like a spray gun mix, so you can go heavy with like 3 coats. With this artwork with paint strokes. I would spray 4 coats, let it fully cure a couple days. Then scuff the clear with a scotch brite pad, do 3-4 more coats, level sand with 600 gritt. and work up the sand paper grits to 3000. Get heavy cut auto compound, then do a regular cut compound. Then do a polish. Great work tho. That design is awesome
