Use different function names. If you use the same function name (for example: register_in_progress_order_status) then it crashes your site. Just rename the function name register_in_progress_order_status to register_in_progress_order_status_new renamte it also under add_action part of the code

It was the WooCommerce setting: High-performance order storage (recommended). This seems to “break” the manual overrides for displaying columns. the HPOS setting changes things quite a bit. To add columns for HPOS you will need to use these hooks instead: woocommerce_shop_order_list_table_columns ($columns) woocommerce_shop_order_list_table_custom_column ($column, $order) Remember that for the second hook, the $order is a WC_Order object, and not a post. There is a slightly similar issue for metaboxes on order pages when using HPOS. To determine whether or not to put up a metabox you cannot just inspect $post as before; instead you need to check if the current screens $screen->id has the value'woocommerce_page_wc-orders'. If it does, you are on the HPOS order table, and you can get the order id from _$REQUEST['id'].

Apart from refunding, order items can not be edited, unless the order status is “Pending payment”, or “On hold.” Put simply, feel free to change an order’s status momentarily, so that the order’s items are editable, and subsequently set it to its actual status.

I'm also having trouble understanding the reasoning behind this, as: 1) The "Completed" status is intended for shop admins to distinguish between orders that are completed or not. 2) However, for customers, it signifies that the order has been "Shipped." If every customer were able to change the order status, it could lead to confusion.

And they can complete the order after they have received the product. And the complete order button would only be seen for a fixed number of days.
