So I'm guessing you flip the timber over to finish the cut?how big timber can it cut without fliping

No the big makita cuts it through in one pass.

Nice video. Couldn't you save a lot of time by making up a thin piece of plywood/luan that is exactly the width needed (in this case 5.5 inches). Lay one edge on the mark that you made first on the timber, and then trace the other edge of the plywood in order to figure out where to place the edge of the guide that you are screwing down. Save you from having to lay it out twice.

Yes, and I have done that in the past. On a normal layout (one that is not being filmed) Using the square to mark the 5.5 inches takes very little time anyway, but using one hand to hold the camera and one to layout the cut takes a lot more time. Also, I wanted to make sure to go slow enough so people watching the video would understand the concept.
